Biden, 'outraged' by oil company profits, to hit issue again in White House remarks

WASHINGTON (Reuters) -U.S. President Joe Biden, who has expressed outrage at oil companies making record profits while Americans pay high fuel prices, will make a statement on the issue at the White House on Monday, the White House said.

Biden will speak at 4:30 p.m. (2030 GMT) in response "to reports over recent days of major oil companies making record-setting profits even as they refuse to help lower prices at the pump for the American people," the White House said in a statement.

Global energy giants including Exxon Mobil Corp and Chevron Corp posted another round of huge quarterly profits, benefiting from surging natural gas and fuel prices that have boosted inflation around the world and led to fresh calls to boost taxes on the sector.

Biden, whose Democratic party is struggling to maintain control of the U.S. Congress in midterm elections as voters fret about inflation, on Friday blasted oil companies for their steady refusal to pass profits along to consumers by lowering prices.

Good. He should consider threatening them with a windfall profit tax that would be distributed to KPN Oct 2022 #4

That is about as much as he can do. Keep talking to the American people that it is not his Administration causing the pain of higher prices at the pump or at the store. For higher gas rices equates to higher prices all around for goods transported by Trucks.

I wish more people understood how things get to the stores.

just shows you how complacent we are as a nation.
This shit happened in a European country and people would be in the streets until they backed down.

but I seem to Remember the Republicans doing the same oil crisis thing to President Carter in like 76 or77.....
There were cars in gas lines every early morning trying to get gas, and the lines going for blocks and blocks.

Everything Old, is new again??????????

It is not just gasoline, it is price gouging on groceries and everything else being sold by the Corporations.......
AND don't forget the Utility companies selling Natural Gas, Propane and electricity....

We are surrounded by Corporate Fascism already..........and they are all conspiring to try and turn the voters against Biden.............
