Misleading text sent to some Kansas voters gives bad information about where to vote

https://www.kansascity.com/news/politics-government/election/article268098827.html

Some Kansas voters have received a seemingly official text message with misleading information about where to vote in the 2022 midterms.

The texts, sent out Sunday, appear to be linked to a group called Voting Futures Trust, which has reportedly sent out misleading texts about polling stations and mail-in voting in other states.

Secretary of State Scott Schwab told voters to be on “high alert” for the misinformation.

“The Secretary of State’s office does not use third parties to contact voters or share election information on our behalf,” Schwab said in a statement. “State and local election officials are the trusted sources for election information.”

The texts, which are identified as coming from Voting Futures Trust, Voto Latino and Black Voters Matter, include voters’ actual home addresses. Voto Latino and Black Voters Matter are well-established groups founded to encourage engagement among minority groups.

"Mari with Voting Futures". Same message.

I didn't pay attention to it, since I plan to vote early tomorrow at the main place anyway. So I looked it up now and the message I got was directing me to the correct place, and correctly pictured.

They must have hacked their county voter registration data, which would be a serious offense. I hope the Kansas and Missouri Attorneys General are looking into this. Possible election fraud here - if the data was given to "Voting Futures" by state or county officials.

It did have my correct name and home address, the message says "public records" show I hadn't voted yet this time.

I would like to know how they got my cellphone. I hate getting all the messages from spammers so much that I don't pay attention to legitimate messages.

voting locations may have been incorrect, with this link https://myvoteinfo.voteks.org/voterview/ which is a good site to check registration, see sample ballots and find your polling place.

This may have been either a data error or some honest mistake. Never heard of the group, so who knows. I'd like to know how they got people's cellphone numbers.
