(13,582 posts)In one part of our little town where we would get over one hundred trick or treaters on the night to a house where we get zero ghosts and goblins Its really bummer.

(68,696 posts)I can't imagine not having one kid come. I bet my daughter gets very few as she has a steep driveway in the Tremont area of Cleveland.

(13,582 posts)But there is a school dance which Im sure sounds like more fun to her.

(68,696 posts)my first dance. I was 11...it had a pumpkin colored velvet skirt with an empire lace high-necked lace trimmed blouse...it had a green velvet ribbon around the empire waist and she sent matching fishnet stockings my Mom made me wear Mary Janes and socks because she was a sadist ( just kidding) so I was psyched...hid them in purse and put them on in the girl's room at school.
Gran sent me cool stuff that annoyed my Mom (maybe that was the point?) I adored her. She wrote me long chatty letters and sent care packages...I still have the letters. I miss her every day.

(26,295 posts)At one time there were triple digit costumed cuties on Halloween. The streets were lined with cars. Then a few years ago it started to dwindle. The last few years I've had very few, and last year there were none. So this year I bought a bag of Junior Mint snack boxes, just in case. And I happen to LOVE Junior Mints so the lack of trick or treat visitors means I get to eat the whole bag!!
There were a lot of big and well advertised 'trunk or treat' events in the area, yesterday, so I'm guessing that's the new trend.
I should have dressed up my fur babies but I do, at some point, have to sleep. They won't even wear a collar!!

(5,819 posts)for Trick-or-Treat, but now most kids go to a huge Halloween celebration downtown (its a small town). The town is involved, residents, merchants & even a couple of churches are in on the fun. Its a cool event! 🎃

(1,023 posts)The kids walked from the library down Main St. A few hundred kids, from babies to teens. The merchants handed out candy. A lot of places seem to be doing this. It was a lot of fun.

(2,220 posts)and though we live in a predominately white neighborhood, most of our families were black. Lots of teenagers, too, and adults also in costume taking their kids around. Im glad we are a safe neighborhood for families who might not feel safe on their own streets at night. And Im glad the teens are giving childhood one last go round.

(2,769 posts)We keep a running count.
There are plenty of kids in this neighborhood ... but not that many!
Our older neighborhood is small and compact and people from other nabes come here because it's so walkable (and friendly).

(22,759 posts)Almost every one had a costume on. And we ran out of candy by 7:15!

I also think folks from riskier neighborhoods are coming over here because we are safer. Lots of Latino kids in the cutest costumes

(3,495 posts)Its been unusually slow this year. We usually give it about 200 pieces of candy, but its 7 oclock already and weve only had four trick-or-treater so far. I hear some kids coming now hopefully they come in big groups from now on.

(18,779 posts)I saw others but we are at the end of a block that didn't have any other houses handing out treats. The trick or treaters didn't want to make the trek I suppose.
