I'm so sick of them lying about the Keystone Pipeline

They are still doing it: claiming that Biden shut down the Keystone Pipeline. It has always been a cleverly worded lie. There are two things to remember when you hear this lie.

1) Biden never shut down any existing pipeline. He merely canceled a permit for a propossed extension called the XL. The XL was going nowhere because it was being chalenged on the state level. One of the reasons was because it would have put valuable water supplies at risk.

2) Since the XL had never been built, it has never had an impact on our energy supply. The way the Biden haters make it sound, you would think the XL was our main source of oil.

I can't stand liars. The problem is you have to work hard and hope they listen when you udebunk their talking points. Their lying is easy and quick.

But they always act like it was all shut down.

Another part of the lie is the omission of how the Keystone carries tar sands (a low grade product that is not used by many refineries) from Canada to world markets. They always make it sound like it carries some kind of premium US crude needed to keep us "energy independent".

Liars!

They never mention that when they are telling their lies.

3. It was also a Canadian oil company, not the USA. It would have pumped the filthiest sludge

oil in the world across the largest aquifer in the Midwest endangering the water supply to many states. The sludge oil would have been shipped from the Gulf of Mexico to China anyways.

there were no downsides to the pipeline and it was just environmental wackos or people that just blindly hate oil that stopped it. In fact it was challenged on a state level as you said and had the most conservative people you’ve ever met as some of those opposed. They love the baby Jesus as much as anyone but they know tar sands can definitely mess up their ground water that they depend on.

If the choice was cheap gas vs more expensive gas, the choice would be obvious!

Apparently the main pipeline was not enough for them. They wanted a short cut that threatens an important resource as well.
