10. Paradox of Democracy and Freedom

The success of America is keeping people mostly satisfied, happy, and protected.

Some find in this cocoon that even their dumbest escapades end with them still pretty much unharmed and ready for even bigger misadventures. That is the paradox of our system. They find being stupid does not kill them right out so they keep pushing the envelope until they are bouncing off and testing out guardrails.

I hope those guardrails hold until we can reinforce them.
