So far, in my area, the reported death toll is zero.
Also, zero reported injuries.
The drug dealers in my neighborhood are stingy bastards and didn't give any away.
How about yours?

(5,104 posts)Fentanyl overdoses killed about 4,000 people in California in 2020 more than double the previous year as trafficking routes from Mexico hardened and the unusually cheap drug began penetrating local drug markets.
And last year, for the first time, Californias death rate from all drug overdoses surpassed that of lung cancer and ranked just below hypertensive heart disease. The increase was due almost entirely to fentanyl. It killed a record 5,722 Californians in 2021, according to preliminary data from the California Department of Vital Statistics. Thats more than the estimated 4,258 people who died in auto accidents on California roads and more than double the 2,548 killed in homicides.

At some point the "hilarity" around fentanyl isn't all that funny.

(8,387 posts)What I see is irrelevant fearmongering as a lame excuse to avoid doing anything about the actual fucking problem.
I realize there are those who prefer scapegoating and fearmongering to competent solutions.
I also realize that going after illegal immigrants is always popular with some and will remain so.
Stay fixated on scary foreign people and "Halloween Fentanyl"....

(5,104 posts)isn't a good look for liberal Democrats.
Fentanyl is a serious issue that isn't being treated as such here on DU.
I'd hope for better focus on the threat of a highly fatal drug that is killing too many young people.

As others have noted, fentanyl is not a laughing matter. It also was not present in any halloween candy.
