(24,319 posts)but when the wife and I want to avoid politics and the news, fortunately we both like the cooking and home improvement channels.

(34,119 posts)I always have to step away. It yanks you back and forth and makes you crazy. Do what you are doing, work on getting out the vote etc. but do not listen to all the yaking on the TV. It is interesting but at this point, for me anyway, it is so bad for my head and I need to keep in the game.
If you do podcasts pick up Smartless. Today they had President Biden on. It was at turns silly, fun, serious but very very good to listen to. Will Arnet, Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes, you can only imagine! It will make you feel good. Promise.

(362 posts)I watched a British organist on YouTube. Great concerts and totally forgot the news. Between that and Netflix, Hulu and Disney+, Im not going to pay much attention to politics!

(288 posts)We just can't deal with the craziness of the MAGA crowd and their increasing antisemitism, racism, ignorance, and general bullshit. We have both voted and have donated to support various Democratic candidates. Now we need to chill out and hope that all hell doesn't break loose.

(3,414 posts)I've been cruising youtube in the evenings, and finding all sorts of interesting and informative stuff. Like this old movie based on a story by Rod Serling, Patterns:
Like a video on how to reset the Maintenance Required notice on my car if the oil change guy doesn't do it. Videos of National Parks, cities I've never been to, and a 5 minute demonstration on how to clean my windows more efficiently. I get my news and political stuff right here at DU.

(14,971 posts)I turned on MSNBC earlier and Hallie Jackson was interviewing the Republican running for the Senate in Colorado. She let him spew all types of disinformation and nonsense and didn't call him out on any of it. "Biden caused inflation in America,. Biden caused high gas prices. " It was disgusting. Democrats get criticized on everything they're doing wrong and they let the GOP just slide. So sick of it all.

(36,281 posts)Seriously, life is much better without the squawking box. I am occasionally exposed to TV in places like hotel breakfasts, and it's appalling. I don't know how people can watch it.

(4,238 posts)I don't need this stress. At this point, if people are stupid enough to put the party of reactionary, conspiracy-spreading insurrectionists in power, then we deserve whatever comes our way.
