Well F! Folks have COVID.

Mom said when she put the swab into the vial the line started appearing. Free tests via USPS.

She’s in her 80’s and he’s in his 90’s (Marine) with COPD. Quarantined easily but he’d loved to go to every single store to get every single deal. He’s a scrapper. Medical at UVA and the VA.

Mom went to some stores last weekend (this is the Shenandoah Valley) and was in line for about 20 minutes at two.

Both have 5 - 2+1+1+1 COVID vaccinations.

Twoish years ago my stepfather was not sure about getting the vaccine. They watch Fox nonstop. Mom told me it went down exactly like this - the doctor at the VA stopped, turned around and said “Mr. ______ You are 90 years old. You have COPD. If you don’t get this vaccine and you get this, you will die”

Moms at about day 4. He’s at day two.

I wear a KN95 mask everywhere when out of the house. I think a lot of people are thinking if they are vaxed, they are same and home free........

Mild symptoms. Isolated 5 days and tested negative for 4 days. Symptoms came back stronger and tested positive again for 5 days. Bad sore throat each time. Fully vaxed and boostered. Fully masked for 2 years.

Got it because I decided to travel to Scotland. Return trip through JFK was like Calcutta. Sea after sea of people in lines. No masks. No 6 ft spacing.

was like trying to swallow barbed wire.

I had Covid in September, started on Paxlovid. I was back in the gym in two weeks, but at a low level, and couldn't run or ride my bike as I was breathless. Now I just have that Covid Cough and can't taste much of anything, and stuff smells weird. I got the second booster but have stayed MASKED UP around people - it's too easy to have a rebound and catch it again.

Get well quickly, but entirely. Too many people try to come back too soon and relapse. Make sure that nasty virus is looooong gone. Did you vote by absentee ballot, or are you going to make it to the polls?

COVID was also mild for me - and then I landed in the hospital 3-4 weeks later with pancreatitis, non-specific gall bladder crud, and immune deficiencies. When I finally got to someone who knows their head from a hole in the ground, he told me he is seeing lots of cases of post-COVID pancreatitis.

Had cold symptoms for three day, then it all went away. She was mostly pissed she was quarantined for an additional two weeks, but totally understood why.

Here's hoping your parents have an easy go of it, too

I'm sincerely sorry to hear that, underpants. That's a tough age to fight such an insidious virus.

Tell them everyone on DU sends their best wishes, and we hope they make recoveries so rapid and complete they'll write about it in JAMA for years to come.

My best to you.

My mom made it to 101. I can be a heavy burden.
