"If you lose the election, will you accept the result?"
Of course not...the whole point of continuing the 2020 election fraud lie is the end game strategy. Kari Lake said "I'm going to win and I will accept the results." If she doesn't win, she'll claim rigged election and start the lawsuits.

(52,253 posts)if a loser politician whines and cries about cheating *without any evidence*, then the _news story_ is that the loser is a whiny crybaby.
only if there's credible evidence of voting irregularities, and enough of it to plausibly change the result, does the claim of voting irregularities become a story.
do they give the time of day to baseless cheating allegations made by losing athletes or sports teams? even when competitors blame the officials, there's no "i don't accept the results" or any suggestion that the gold should be given to the whiny loser instead -- again, unless there's actual credible evidence of cheating.
it's not a problem if one team wins a football game and the other team says "we wuz robbed". it just means the losing team can't accept that they should have played better.
the media should never give credibility to baseless accusation politicians make about electoral cheating. *so what* if donnie or whoever "refuses to accept the results"? whiny loser can whine all he wants. but the media should never do anything to suggest or imply that this is anything other than a whiny loser whining.
remember how the media gave tons of airtime to the "sore/loserman" meme during the bush-gore dispute in 2000? never mind that gore really won and shrub was the one pushing most of the legal challenges, including the key one at the supreme court level. now think, when was the last time the media characterized any republican's whining about election irregularities as just them being a sore loser?
it just doesn't happen when it's a republican.

It drives me crazy that airtime is given to these fools who refuse to ever cited source.
Your post is spot on. How can we communicate this to the media? Its important we need to do it.

(2,256 posts)One reporter asked Kari Lake about the 'evidence' to support election fraud. She answered 'you should know' or 'shouldn't have to ask' for evidence. Another comment she made was 'don't insult my intelligence saying Trump lost the 2020 election.'
Mo Brooks said the '2000 Mules' documentary presented the evidence...it didn't come close.
There is, always has been, some miniscule amount of election irregularities and some outright fraud. Trump just made up shit to build his Big Lie theory that was all debunked but he continues to say the election was stolen. That is the way of propaganda. Whether true or not, keep saying something and some people will believe it. Of course, Trump's cult members want to believe it.
At this point in time, Trump could come out and say his Big Lie was in fact a lie and it wouldn't change the the MAGA voters' belief about the election.
Trump won...just ask them.

(52,253 posts)The original lie should be covered. Presented as a lie, but covered. At some point, it's news that the lie is being repeated. That's a second story.
But constantly giving airtime over and over again to something that is neither truthful nor anything new is just ridiculous.

(86,646 posts)If someone is making some sideways claim, I demand proof of what they are claiming to be true.
If they are telling me they have the answers, I demand details of how they plan to get it done and just exactly how it will be of benefit and to whom.
Nothing less is worth listening to at this point. Mind you, I;m surrounded but I have seen that most of the political signs I see in town are for Democrats for the first time, ever, since I moved to this county.

(5,229 posts)that when any of these fools lose and refuse to accept it, they won't have the money to fight it like rtump does. He has unlimited cash thanks to the idiots sending him money. Lesser magas won't have that resource and people will forget them once elections are over.

(16,862 posts)Allow me to put on my tinfoil hat....I think their pushing this for two reasons. Obviously, it gets their base fired up.secondly, they do it because they know the sane left will push back and mock them. Let's say, in the future, their is massive fraud or cheating by those pushing the "big lie". They would then turn around and say "Oh but you mocked us when we said their was fraud". In other words, I fully expect some of these types to use their lies as a means to attempt fraud.

https://www.vanityfair.com/news/2022/11/kari-lake-sows-doubt-in-election-process-midterms
Lake, one of several candidates who ran with Trumps support this midterm cycle, was taking a page out of the former presidents own playbook by fomenting distrust in the results before the count was finished. If you'll recall, Trump himself tried to take advantage of delays in the vote tabulation to spread conspiracy theories and claim a premature victory. Lake, a leading proponent of those very theories, seemed to be laying the foundation Tuesday to cast doubt on her own potential loss. Speaking to supporters, she raised doubts about election equipment, railed against the fake media, and suggested there was incompetency and corruption in the process, which is overseen by her opponent, Hobbs, the current Arizona secretary of state.
God did not put us on this fight because it was gonna be easy, Lake said in a tone reminiscent of Trumps distinctive rally stage cadence. When corruption has risen to the level that its at right now, it takes tough, strong people. Are you tough and strong? Are you willing to continue this fight?" (Hobbs, for her part, preached patience to her supporters, saying that Arizonans must wait for every vote to be counted.)
