Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) has announced that they will pursue getting Trump disqualified from the ballot if he runs in 2024.

According to CREW:

Should Donald Trump seek reelection to the presidency or any other office, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington will pursue his disqualification under the Fourteenth Amendment for engaging in the January 6th insurrection.

“The evidence that Trump engaged in insurrection is overwhelming,” Bookbinder said. “We are ready, willing, and able to take action to make sure the Constitution is upheld and Trump is prevented from holding office.”

It is too soon to predict whether an effort to get Trump disqualified from the ballot would succeed, but CREW’s challenge will be boosted by something other l4th Amendment candidate challenges have not had.

Which rethug candidate would President Biden be able to thoroughly trounce in 2024? TFG. Even without the goldmine of criminality, just compare the record of accomplishments while in office.

Of course, by then, trump could very well be in prison, or most certainly fighting his indictment in court. Also, as someone on DU pointed out the other day, if trump and his minions insist he won in 2020, he wouldn't be able to run again because he's already been elected twice.

More than 30 people associated with former President Donald Trump and alleged efforts to influence the 2020 election results have received federal grand jury subpoenas, four sources told CBS News.

The subpoenas, many of which were issued last week, mark a significant escalation in the Justice Department's investigation into origins of the Jan. 6, 2021, Capitol riot and other alleged attempts to stop the transfer of power to then-President-elect Joe Biden. One source familiar with the case characterized the investigation as huge.

The Justice Department is examining how money was raised and spent on alleged attempts to overturn the 2020 election; efforts to submit fake "alternate" electors to Congress from states lost by Trump; and the "Stop The Steal" rally held at the Ellipse, adjacent to White House grounds, on Jan. 6, just before the Capitol riot.

The Justice Department's inquiry into potential mishandling of presidential and classified records found at Trump's Florida estate is a separate matter.

Griffin did not have any lawyers at his hearing. He has them now for the appeal. The NM Governor has not appointed any replacement. There is a reason for that. He thinks the appeal will be successful.
