When do we get to use the guns?
Members of the audience applauded.
No, and Im not thats not a joke, he continued. Im not saying it like that. I mean, literally, wheres the line? How many elections are they going to steal before we kill these people?
Kirks response was not, as you might hope, a strident rejection of the premise. He argued that an embrace of violence was what the left wanted, allowing for the creation of Patriot Act 2.0. (The original Patriot Act was not a project of the political left, as some will recall.) When the questioner asked where the line was, Kirk didnt say that there was no line that would warrant the use of gun violence for political purposes, instead suggesting that the next step was for states to reject federalism.
Trying to reconcile decent people identifying as republican. What is it that they don't get about this? Anyone who votes republican, votes in favor of all the things on your list. And they've been duped by right-wing lies & the media to believe that repubs are better at the economy. You know what kind of economy repubs are good at? A bubble economy. One where those at the top have inside info & access & make a killing before the house of cards collapses on all the little people. Dems on the other hand, try to create an economy for everyone. Or at the very least, they throw a few more crumbs toward the working/middle class. How so many people fell for the idea that spending money on our fellow citizens is a waste, but giving huge subsidies to corporations who then sell their goods to us at profit, is okay, I'll never know. I knew a lot of Reagan dems back in the day.

Just to clarify - I've been of legal voting age since 1972 and I have NEVER voted for a Republican. But I do come from a Midwestern family that was proudly Republican back in the days of Eisenhower. The GOP chased out leaders with good ideas long ago. Now they're the party of nothing but hatred, greed and stupidity.
