WASHINGTON (AP) Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer predicted Thursday that Democrats will hold the U.S. Senate, propelled by strong voter turnout to buck a wave of Republican enthusiasm for gaining control of Congress in the midterm elections.
The Democratic leader told The Associated Press he's confident Democrats will be able to win the battleground states being contested and potentially pick up Senate seats from Republicans.
It's tight, Schumer said in an interview. I believe Democrats will hold the Senate and maybe even pick up seats.
Campaigning in his home state of New York, Schumer's upbeat predictions come as Democrats face stiff headwinds heading into Election Day on Tuesday.

(9,074 posts)The Senate is absolutely in play. 50-51 is doable. 52 feels best case scenario, but not out of reach.

(32,645 posts)Senator Schumer knows this - it's very hard to get Dems and Indies to vote (or even care) in the midterm elections. But the Roe ruling has changed that. People who have never voted before are suddenly participating in this election.
Let's show them what a BLUE WAVE looks like. Shall we?
