About 10 days later, the same quantity box was selling for $750 on ebay!

So big ty to Dr. Ding for keeping us alive here...and in tp. (I still have enough tp for about 1.5 more years, a great hedge against inflation since it has way more than doubled in price!)

And i have worked fastidiously on getting my in-laws vaccinated and boosted (they were hesitant), and I think Ding is full of shit.

There are myriad other doctors who give more level headed information. Dr. Eric Topol, Dr. Michael Mina, Mark Lipsitch, @gidmk (health nerd at twitter), Dr. Tara C. Smith, Dr. Seema Yasmin.

There are so many who give fantastic info about vaccines and the various variants out there.

I implore everybody to follow people on twitter who are giving good strong info about all of this.

The catastrophic nature of Ding's posts are problematic for many reasons.

He also created something called the World Health Network... which is an obviously problematic name for an organization. Through this org's twitter feed he pushed alarmist info about Monkey Pox and other diseases. It's obviously he was looking for people to confuse the organization with the WHO... and take his information as gospel.

It’s actually easy to not take him seriously. Few of his peers do.

Also, how many “Harvard epidemiologists” are lying about getting censored on Twitter while trying to get their fans to migrate over to his “new thing” so he can monetize/panhandle for money?

Why does a supposed health expert with a presumably well paying job need to make money off a public health crisis?

And now he ramps Everything. Up. To. 11!

I read him early on, but he started being far more alarmist than the scientific literature warranted. I think he realized anxious, panicked people would spread his message more across Twitter.

Eyeballs are good for landing on TV and enhancing your brand as a commentator.

It is true BQ is more resistant to treatment with monoclonal antibodies, but the bivalent vaccine is also effective against the strains.

What he's angling at is to induce a panic to go back into lock downs - he's selling fear.

Good for him. Terrible for policy and just not particularly useful to where we are with all this.

Hard to dispute that track record from a Harvard epidemiologist.

In my microbiology class, we've been following Covid updates all semester. We had a project on it, and now we take time every week during lecture to discuss latest updates and things. So, we're encouraged to read and discuss all the latest scientific news and materials.

What he's discussing is familiar to me, however how he is presenting it to the layperson public is absolutely alarmist. Hell, I know what he's talking about, and I could feel my anxiety level rise a bit while reading through and seeing how he is presenting the information.

Some salespeople want to sell you a car. And some salespeople want to SELL you . . . a CAR!!!!!!!!!

He's the latter sort, which I don't think is helpful. We'd be a society of shut-ins and paranoics if everyone listened to him regularly.

And that's totally ok.

I like boring information. Right now, I'm going through a study about using cephalosporins instead of fluoroquinolones to treat kidney infections. (Narrow band antiobiotic vs broad band in order to combat drug resistance).

And it is just the driest read in human history. And that's my jam.
