Jimmy Kimmel Told ABC He’d Quit if Execs Stopped Him From Making Trump Jokes: ‘They Knew I Was Serious’

Jimmy Kimmel revealed on the most recent episode of Sticher’s “Naked Lunch” podcast that he threatened to quit his ABC talk show, “Jimmy Kimmel Live!,” when ABC executives expressed apprehension over him telling jokes about Donald Trump. It appears the execs once spoke to Kimmel about laying off Trump in order to not alienate Republican viewers. Kimmel said ABC execs were right in their apprehension, as he estimates he lost around half of his audience due to Trump jokes.

“There was one time, right around the beginning of this whole Trump thing… maybe not quite [eight years ago],” Kimmel said when asked if ABC ever expressed concern to him about attacking Trump. “I said listen, I get it, you’re right. I have lost half of my fanbase, maybe more. Ten years ago, among Republicans I was the most popular talk show. At least according to the research they did.”

Kimmel continued, “I get it if [blocking Trump jokes is] what they want to do. I said, ‘If that’s what you want to do I don’t begrudge you for it, but I’m not going to do that. If you want someone else to host the show, that’s fine with me. I’m just not going to do it like that.'”

I think that was the name of the show. He’s become a witty, respectable voice commenting on current events. Mostly. He’s not above capitalizing on cheesy stories. Of course it’s really his writers.

A man who is on the side of the greater good. He rather be on the correct side of history with just 10 people watching than succumb to just be a money maker of the corporate network who tells unclever current event jokes.

4. Good for Jimmy in standing his ground. I've always liked his humor, although sometimes I can't

figure it out, but that's me and my dense mind.

And most importantly, in reality, he's not really joking about tRUMP, everything he says about tRUMP and his cronies is spot on, and true, and thus, he's just reporting on the actual news, actual doings of these idiots for that particular day. It is pretty bad when you talk about someone and the reality of it is that you're really not joking, that tRUMP and cronies actually did the stupid or idiotic things that Jimmy was/is talking about, during that particular show.

In short, every day, it's a circus w/ tRUMP. No one has to really work at it to come up w/ a joke about tRUMP. They simply just got to report on the actual news/actual events.

Even those that are tRUMP fanatics are admitting it now to me, that they shake their heads about the latest idiotic tRUMP doings and tell me to don't say a word (I can't resist needling them about tRUMP and his latest idiotic doings). It must kill them but hey, they knew it, that he was an idiot, and I didn't have to tell them that.

Nice! The orange moron is doing himself in, and he has only himself to blame. I relish this.
