Subhead: Its a huge manipulation, the Texas Republican said.

It was always a lie. The whole thing was always a lie. And it was a lie meant to rile people up, the Texas Republican said of the lie that Donald Trump was cheated by widespread voter fraud in the 2020 election during the latest episode of his Hold These Truths podcast.
Ive talked about this ad nausea, it really made me angry, the former Navy SEAL told election reform advocate Nick Troiano. Because Im like, the promises youre making that youre gonna challenge the Electoral College and overturn the election, theres not even a process for you to do that. It doesnt even exist.
So I was like, What the hell are we doing? And I would tell that to people kinda behind closed doors too. Especially a lot of the rabble-rousers, like the political personalities, not even the politicians, he said. Crenshaw recalled arguments behind closed doors in the Republican Party before that.

I normally don't quote from HuffPo but this really caught my eye. So Crenshaw is going all Liz Cheney on us now, having an attack of honesty? HuffPo provides a clip from Crenshow's most recent podcast.

- Hell no

(623 posts)"he is a deep state RINO" or something along those lines are the typical responses I've seen. The republicans built a monster that they cannot control, and now they are stuck nursing it.

(32,727 posts)Crenshaw hints that it's people who are candidates right now, and calling it a "Steal" or "Voter Fraud," or whatever - in public. But he's hearing otherwise from these same people when there are no TV cameras around.
Two years ago, Ben Crenshaw was doing the same thing, calling the 2020 election a "Steal." But somewhere he got an attack of conscience, and he's telling the truth now. That's why I said, "he's going all Liz Cheney on us."

(95,255 posts)From The Blue Max, a frequent mess-room epithet in the book, not the movie. It's a surprisingly good book, too, which the movie doesn't resemble in the slightest. Really a study of alcoholism with air fighting as a backdrop. Stachel was a souse.

(36,281 posts)That makes more sense now. Saw the movie years ago, don't really remember much of it except a lot of dogfights.
(Did a quick check to make sure there hasn't been a remake, so we're talking about the same film.)

(623 posts)People like him are the ones who allowed it to get this far. While I'm sure how much good it would actually do, it would be nice if they did get more specific.

Your record tells us all we need to know. You went along with it. Your silence condoned your partys agenda to block the peaceful transition of power.
This guy is kinda cool, Dan Crenshaw," Davidson said on this weekend's show, next to a photo of Crenshaw, a Republican. "You may be surprised to hear he's a congressional candidate from Texas, and not a hit man in a porno movie. Pete Davidson

(5,522 posts)After being a barnacle on Trumps ass for over 5 years, Crenshaw suddenly becomes an honest man?
Nope. Too late. Anyone who enabled this mess will never wash the red off their hands, no matter how much they try.

But it's probably only to get people on the fence to think -
"Oh - the Republicans won't REALLY do that."
I don't trust what Crenshaw says - because I've seen what he and his ilk DO.

(7,871 posts)Because if they are too scared to act on their so-called """true beliefs""" out in public, that means you can't count on them to do the right thing when it comes down to it. If they are too scared to go along with the truth now, when do you expect them to? That will just be the same excuse they use as we devolve into full-blown fascism; hell, they are probably MORE likely to go along with it as we continue down this democracy-destroying path, because if they are too afraid to speak out and speak up now, you think they will when/if the fascists really gain power? I sure as hell don't.
