Jonathan Swan of Axios is putting it out there that Trump may announce on November 14th that he is a candidate for president.
There are two schools of thought;
1. People who feel that Trump gains protection from indictment for crimes if he is a candidate for president.
2. People like Michael Cohen who believe that Trump will not run for president because he will lose a lot of money. Right now he gets to keep 90 cents for every dollar contributed to his Pac. Once he announces he is running for president he loses a huge chunk of money.
I usually have an opinion on the issues, but I am not sure about this one. If Trump truly believes he may go to jail he may give up a lot of money just for some protection. Does Trump believe he will never be convicted, then he will go for the money.
Also, if Democrats keep control of Congress, I do not think that Trump runs, if Magats win a branch then he might.
Do not know what is in Trump's mind.

(4,733 posts)Republicans win the House as expected. As Speaker of the House he is #3 in line to the Presidency and it would be problematic for the DOJ to prosecute him. Not to mention the target then on President Biden and the VP's backs .....

The Trump SPAC, DWAC is clearly in trouble... that's the blank check desiring to take the Trump Technology and Media Group public
They keep delaying the merger vote because they fear the SPAC will fail and dissolve, returning money to the investors.
In fact, they JUST delayed the vote again...
So Trump will announce and I guarantee you... the stock price will pump (and dump) and they'll get the merger done.
Second...
Trump thinks he'll be insulated from the DoJ by his candidate status.
Third...
Just spent tens of millions of $ on the 757... he's running.
Four...
If the GOP takes the House and/or the Senate, he'll take 100% credit.
Five...
Trump craves the attention.
Six...
Trump learned what NOT to do 2017-2020... if elected again, he'll make sure there are NO GUARDRAILS in his administration.
Seven...
He's a spiteful vindictive little man... an A1 asshole and he's bent on revenge.
Yeah, he's running.

(51,605 posts)He is suck a psychological disaster so who the Hell knows what that fucker will do from one minute to the next. Sometimes I doubt he even knows what he will do the next day, unless it involves golf.
If it is a toss up over jail vs. $$$$ I think he will go after the $$$ since he believes he will never get caught. He hasn't been caught for anything big so far so why would he think differently now?

(165 posts)all depends on the results of the mid-term elections. If enough election deniers get elected and the Republicans get control of the House and/or the Senate, he runs. Also, I read that he is transferring money from PACs to a campaign PAC.

2. If he's elected, no prob! More executive orders. He doesn't need no stinkin' Congress.
3. All that free media.
4. Back to charging $5,000 a night for Secret Service -- and that's for him. Add back on his kids and families.
5. Back to golfing on the week-ends on our dime.
