🚨 Heimlich maneuver for dogs. Just in case you need it 🐶

We had to do this last night. The boy just froze up as he was about to go out the doggy door. If he’d been outside we might not have known. Frantic crazy few minutes. Nothing came out so he must have swallowed whatever was stuck. Took him to an emergency vet right after and everything checked out. WHEW!

I don’t even remember how I knew it, but I literally reached into her throat and pulled it out. Scared the crap out of me.

Totally put me off pig ears as treats lol.

Thanks for posting!

Never thought about what to do with a choking dog. My boy barely chews his food. Glad your dog is ok. Were you aware of these things before last night?

As soon as I got to him I took over. We did everything but the third step (I was thinking at the time - just do the human Heimlich) but it worked out. Got almost my whole hand in his mouth.

That’s why I posted this. Short quick memorable summary.

it's the breed, says my vet. Like backward sneezing. After checking his throat, I just pet him until he's over it.

Thank you so much for this very useful information. Glad your guy's ok.
