Nike Suspends Relationship With Irving

Saw on ESPN & here's a link.
They are suspending the relationship, reviewing whether to ever resume it & have postponed the release of the new model of his signature shoe.
Could possibly cost him him $40 million, perhaps more.
All he had to do was quit being a jerk in public. But, no.
Maybe after being a jerk in public, he could have meaningfully apologized. But, no.
He's not too bright for a guy who always thinks he's the smartest guy in the room.

He wouldn't even return texts from the owner to discuss an apology.
Then, there's an Instagram apology. Seems like he was dragged kicking & screaming.
Seems inconsistent with true contrition & recognition of a mistake.

...that some NBA owner doesn't sign him to a supermax contract thinking he can be rehabilitated.
If that doesn't happen, the brand suffers further & that few hundred million will actually come true.
I think he's overrated as a player anyway. The analysts are so in love with his "skills". I'm not seeing it. He's very good, not great.

I don't think owners will risk signing him to a supermax steel since he has shown how unreliable he is.
