So, how people doin' this weekend before voting day?

Honestly? I’m nervous. But kinda cautiously optimistic. Liking what I’m hearing about turnout so far, particularly youth turn out. The polls give me tummy rumblings, but there are reasons to view them with a grain (or a bucket) of salt this time. I think they’re basing a lot of assumptions off “typical” election cycles and this just isn’t one. It is a little (ok, a lot) disheartening that things are close, but hoping for some good news Tuesday.

How about you? Where are you at this Saturday? Also, any news to add as far as Tuesday’s outlook?

1. I'll be busy

with house work and then creating some greeting cards. Not going to dwell on the worst case scenario. I’m relying on the fact that mail in voters are mostly Dems so we may be discouraged until all the ballots are counted and (please Goddess!) we win both House and Senate!!

Usually, I have a good idea of what the results of an election will be. This time, I’m not sure at all. Anything can happen.

Now comes the nail bitting...

but this year I have seen many more signs for Democratic candidates than in years past. I'm feeling pretty good about Tues. Oh yea a lot less Republican signs.

I'm not at the wedding, due to my still avoiding crowds in enclosed spaces (planes) and large gatherings, in general. We will watch the live stream.

Truth be told, I've put pretty much every major and even some minor decisions on hold until after we know if the nation will survive or head into absolute turmoil. Yea, I'm not an optimist.

and apprehensive.

My rational self tells me that there just cannot be that many hate filled dumbshits.

But I remember that I said that in 2016.

I voted Thurs., last day of early voting in TN. Many more women of all age groups voting alone, a steady stream!

(This rural area is one in which women & people of color have been so very repressed that many women here feel they "need a maaaaan" to accomplish anything. )

Another factor with young voters that I've not seen mentioned is that it is quite likely they are fed up with being terrified of gun violence, and that this might also drive voting for Dems.

So qpukes have a lot of groups unhappy with them: women, people of color, seniors, & young voters!

I intentionally ceased doing phone banking today and Sunday because the few I've connected with in real-time over the past days have been MAGATs, largely and I just don't think I'm being/can be effective. I chose two difficult states, though (not Colorado). So maybe among those countless voicemails, I may have made some difference.

But, my anxiety needs to be dealt with with a weekend off. Maybe Monday will be better. And I am working long hours Tuesday and Wednesday purposely.

In my possession more than 20 hours from the time I received it to the moment I dropped it in the box at the courthouse.

Nervous like I was 2016 but warily hopeful.

I think I will put on my headphones and get lost after Monday morning. I'll watch RMS in the evening but I'll probably zone out as much as I can to maintain sanity. Not sure I can watch on Tuesday. I have too much to lose, personally, if we lose.

Because I don’t think Democrats truly have learned and come to terms with the ugliness of their opponents. What means those opponents will use to win, and in addition, just how many stupid people there are out there who are more interested in the price of a tank of gas than in saving the planet.

As I always say - please, please, oh please let me be wrong!! I have done all I can to get the Dems in my jurisdictions elected. Now, it’s going to be what it’s going to be. I can’t understand things FOR the idiots.

I have baked cookies for the band (250 or so kids and staff) and am taking them up for their lunch before the game. Then, we're going to the game (I hate football, but will sit through it for my beloved son) and then to dinner with him, other two sons, and girlfriend of middle child.

Tomorrow, hanging at home, playing D&D in the afternoon online.
