Small coastal town, Oregon.
I volunteered yesterday to observe ballot processing at the local elections office. We are paired with a Republican, and every step of the process is observed by R/D pairs.
My Republican partner was carrying a copy of a document written by Cleta Mitchell, "A Citizen's Guide to Building an Election Integrity Infrastructure".

Cleta Mitchell is one of the well-funded attorneys behind Trump's most egregious claims of voter fraud, and has lost many court cases.
She is also the head of a nationwide grassroots organization dedicated to training citizens all over the US to document "voter irregularities" and report them back to their organization, likely for court challenges to elections processes.
Anyone who is volunteering for election duty this year should be familiar with this group and their tactics. They are essentially looking to destroy democratic elections by death-of-thousands-of-lawsuits.
For an in-depth dive on the spuriousness of election fraud claims, see

Reviewing the most prominent of these statistical claims, we conclude that none of them is even remotely convincing. The common logic behind these claims is that, if the election were fairly conducted, some feature of the observed 2020 election result would be unlikely or impossible.
In each case, we find that the purportedly anomalous fact is either not a fact or not anomalous.
Election volunteers, eyes open!

(3,768 posts)The image (or illusion): Only Republicans know how elections are supposed to work. It's so obvious, their ballot processing observers, carrying the "Cleta Manifesto" have the special knowledge needed to "be in charge" of catching 'voter irregularities' that they can refer to the court system by the thousands. We'll have so many lawsuits that the courts will be in chaos.
Hard-at-work, in-charge, and 'my way or the highway' Republicans are contrasted by the media with "The lazy Democrats" who obviously don't stand a chance!
Will this plan work? Let's hope the answer is NO!

Useful idiots.
