(63,868 posts)I've been giving since October to every democrat running, Fetterman, Crist, Warnock, Mandela Barnes, Admiral Franken, Val Demmings, Abrams they are better than the misfits who are running. All small donations given but they add up!!! the stakes are too high. If the cult gets in there will be havoc.

I donated, but not that much, but as much as I can.

(8,835 posts)We get 20-30 requests from charities every day at this time of year. The largest number is from animal charities.
Other times during the year, 1-10 a day.
It has become quite a business. Every time you give something to any charity, they sell or trade your name to every other charity in the country.....
Same with companies you buy something from. Direct Marketing and Mail order Companies, (mail order companies) sell your name or trade it to a ton of other companies. Just one order from one company and that will generate 100 or more other companies to send their catalogue to you......

(16,412 posts)I've gotten emails and texts that purport to be from Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, Barack Obama, just about any prominent Dem figure you could name, asking me to contribute to Democrats. And of course, that's on top of all the emails from individual candidates. I try to ignore most of it and just contribte to who I can, when I can, but it's a lot sometimes.

(36,307 posts)The campaigns are just sending emails by the gazillions hoping a few will stick. Ive donated all I can and like many I am tapped out. I hope the process for asking for money is more refined for the next election. I am weary of deleting, unsubscribing, etc. A minor complaint when one looks at the entire picture and how important this election is. But still an irritant.

(2,166 posts)I donated as much as I could afford - Abrams, Warnock, Beto, Val Demings, Katie Porter, plus the ActBlue.com House Majority PAC. This is so important.

(17,119 posts)Those micro-donations add up. I'm well over four thousand bucks, and that's on a hardware store guy's wages in the most expensive housing area of the country. I'll give more; I already have today. I doubt the demands will go away after the election. We will need to fund the defense against Nazi attacks on our voting systems.
Thanks to all who are nudging & budging our Democratic candidates!

(8,748 posts)Seems the majority of Americans cant really afford a country. We dont stand much of a chance against billionaires. Like being at an Estate Auction with $1,000 against billionaire bankers that dont really give a damn about the property, they just want to win and own it. And they have an endless supply of cash. And we are bidding on our ancestor's land from 100s of generations.

(686 posts)And this can't be how we keep our democracy going. Whoever collects the most money will win? We've been micro donating since Obama ran and we haven't stopped yet! Get rid of citizens united. I'm so tapped out too.

(1,062 posts)We shouldn't have to go broke making donations that are a drop in the bucket because billionaires can drop millions that they don't even feel.
However, Obama and Bernie showed us that the small donations DO add up. Whenever I donate $10 (I'm an artist) I imagine 10,000 people doing the same. I'm way past my limit, but then I think, what is the value of democracy to me? I'll be in it until Tuesday.

(15,646 posts)and it seems to be going up each election year. Aside from the ills bestowed on us by Citizens United, campaigns have become an industry unto themselves how many people are making millions of $ without any concern for political outcomes I wonder. Having learned a lot about people over my 71 years, Im guessing a lot.

(1,521 posts)Ive given and given and given. Warnock, Abtams, Booker, Barnes, Kelly, Demings.
And Beto. Dont forget Beto.
Finally had to send STOP to some candidates operations. But then Id start getting texts from someone else with the same campaign.
I just cant do it anymore. At this stage the cake should be baked.
Thats what I have to believe.
Im now just hoping that it was enough. Hoping that America wont flunk this intelligence test.

(16,968 posts)We have to choose who we can donate to. I was wondering if a couple larger donations to fewer candidates was better than a lot of little donations to more candidates. I opted for little donations to about 20 candidates. I hope I made the right choice!

(28,798 posts)i don't even know all the candidates I donated to, but the most i've been able to send lately was a few bucks to Cheri Beasley. I can't believe it's even a contest here in NC but it really is and her opponent is a freaking asshole.
i've started blocking numbers because of all the texts i'm receiving. at the end of the day I hate politics actually.

For example, teaching voters where our current inflation is really coming from and who is really doing something about it. Countering the barage of dishonest Republican talking points.

(3,111 posts)I donate monthly to Charlie Crist and Val Demings.
I've sent single donations to Abrams, Warnock, Kelly, Fetterman, and others.
I wish I could do more. It's better to invest in protecting this country now than to have to flee later!
Hoping for a BIG BLUE TSUNAMI on Tuesday!

(8,253 posts)Stacey Abrams for Georgia Governor
Charlie Crist for Florida Governor
Val Demings for US Senator from Florida
Raphael Warnock for US Senator from Georgia
Tim Ryan for US Senator from Ohio
Mark Kelly for US Senator from Arizona
Joy Hofmeister for Oklahoma Governor
Beto ORourke for Texas Governor
Cheri Beasley for US Senator from North Carolina
There are several other deserving candidate that just didnt make my cut this time such as Catherine Cortez Masto. Shes running a tight race. If I had one more round of donations left in me, she would have been top of the list. I would have also included some donations to state Supreme Court candidates in North Carolina and Ohio as well.
Im in Florida so Florida candidate always have priority for me. Even though, they may be long shots at this point, if the home team doesnt invest in them then they will never have a chance.
