(297,273 posts)Let me see if I can find a heartbreaking Insta post our daughter shared with us from Michelle O. where she grieves over the non-voting Dem supporters.
I mean, it's an eternal problem for us, right?
I believe a lot of it is caused by intentionally constructed barriers.

(297,273 posts)That was 2016 & this is Now 💙🇺🇸🕯🕊🌈🍀
I was incorrect to imply anything about this election.
I think Michelle was referring to the off-year midterms when Barack was prez, as well.
GOTV!!

(1,840 posts)for nine months. Hes a white gay young man who worked his butt off for Obama. We housed a white 60 year old woman for two months who also ran door to door in neighborhoods that she really had no business in alone. Her friend, a white 65 year old DC Resident went to South Carolina to work to get Obama elected. She visited us for a weekend so she could campaign with her friend in Ohio for future President Obama. There was so much love and commitment in the trenches. Im really sorry everyone could not have been recognized. The cheers in our home on election night when the young election volunteers gathered for a nail biting watch of the returns. The Tears, hugs and love! Those young people literally collapsed upon each other when Ohio was called for Obama! I will always remember the commitment of unnamed heros. Im proud of the Black women who made it happen. I would not take any of the credit away from them. There is no doubt that it took everyone to make history happen. We all worked together to get the job done. Standing on the Mall on that frigid Inauguration Day with so many happy, beautiful, excited people was an experience I will never relive in this lifetime. Tonights rally brought all of that loveliness back to me. Lets go forward in peace together!

(1,840 posts)The funny thing was on election eve I asked our young house guest if they were planning a party to watch the returns. No, he really didnt know. He called about 5PM on Election Day and asked if he could bring his friends to the house. OMG it was so amazing. Elation, disbelief, cell phones firing with calls home to missed loved ones telling of great success in Ohio. We just kept the pizza coming. 😂😂
