(3,707 posts)The Super G Constellation airplane in the next to last panel speaks volumes (picture/1000 words).
However, I am not able to explain the presence now of a plane whose first flight was in 1951.

(718 posts)In April of 1967 I flew from Fort Campbell, Kentucky to Fort Sill, Oklahoma in a military chartered Super G Constellation. I knew at the time they were being replaced by the airlines with the newer jet aircraft. It was a classic even in 1967.

(10,209 posts)Artillery training went on at all hours. My buddy had a VW van and he generally slept in it while I laid out a sleeping bag near a small camp fire. One night we could here marching approaching. We figured it was some troops that had gotten off track during night maneuvers. As they got closer we shined a flashlight that way. There were large luminous eyes looking back at as. We both jumped in the van as a small herd of buffalo wandered thru our camp. I tossed a firecracker out the window at them. That didnt faze them of course since they listened to artilllery all the time. Walked right over my sleeping bag.

(19,842 posts)Being it's not a jet and doesn't appear in either the previous or following panels, I'd assume it took awhile to pass overhead.

Though I think many of them want to take us back to the 1850s or 1250s.

(16,975 posts)The plane is a terrific symbol of other idealogies which have relied on indoctrination to create attack dogs.

And seriously, the world would be a poorer habitat without him.
It's amazing the hidden messages found in cartoons. The airplane in the next to last frame of this cartoon is a Lockheed Martin Constellation, a commercial airliner for short hop routes from the late '50s-'60s. It had a fatal flaw in that harmonic vibrations from the four engines caused the rear section of the main body to fatigue and literally fall off!
When it was finally diagnosed the airplane was operated on 3 engines until the fleet could be retired and replaced.
Tom Tomorrow is subtly saying that the Republican narrative is simply not sustainable! At least not at this level . . .
*My dad told me to keep an open mind 'cause people will throw all kinds of interesting garbage in it!
