Let's face it the majority of the public has no goddamn idea

What is going on. Only a fraction has any interest in this election. The "man on the street" in this country is content to watch dancing with the stars and have a beer.

They don't vote and they have no fucking idea or opinion about any of this. Have a poll? 20% don't know what you are talking about every fucking time.
What's that big thing up there every night hanging in the sky? Moon? Duh ok.

You can't blame public schools. It is environment, society, etc. We teachers say, "You can lead a horse to water but you can't make him think". And, "The nut doesn't fall far from the tree".

The 2020 presidential election had the highest voter turnout of the 21st century, with 66.8% of citizens 18 years and older voting in the election.

Mid-terms have always had a low turnout. And also it could be that voter suppression is working. I think it is in Texas. These crazy motherfuckers in Texas are just looking for a reason to throw people in jail for anything.

If voting weren’t so popular, Republicans wouldn’t be trying to suppress it.

They have the legislatures and the courts in the bag. The public is stupid. The public doesn't know that Walker is running for Senate. That don't even know what the fuck the senate is. They flunked or never took civics. It's a sad fact.

How sad that you look at the rest of us in such a pompous way.

For your edification:
If someone is pompous, they are too serious and think they are better or more intelligent than others. You can also use pompous to describe the things these people do that communicate that they think they are better than everyone else.

that two-thirds of U.S. voters are not college educated. I don't know where he got that number and a brief search didn't confirm anything but if true it would explain a good deal. Plus many may have fallen for the old GOP propaganda against public schools so they didn't bother to learn anything, i.e. become "brainwashed," while they were there. Idiocracy in full bloom.

their concerns and they are suffering and if only there was a candidate that did x, y, z they would vote.

When asked about voting they might say something like "makes no difference" "they are all the same" or some other bs. But that speaks more to their ignorant of the issues. Instead of admitting they just don't care to pay attention to these issues they will make it seem like the problem is other people.

Also I was thinking the biggest way to get more people to vote would be if it could turn into some social media trend. Like posting selfies with the I voted sticker. Hold parties similar to gender reveal and other bs that you can post on social media. That would get these people to vote more than anything having to do with policy issues.

And the culture is largely set by manipulators.

There was a lot of reaction to "dumb consumer culture" in the sixties.
Need I remind you:

Have things changed much?
Thinking is still thought of as a bad consumer (and voter!) habit.
Hence, the derision of educators who actually encourage students to think things through.

That would bust most or all of the myths that drive a culture of ( list the seven deadly sins that are the cornerstone of capitalism )

I do have to wonder how businesses are still on the side of maga anarchy. My best guess is that they are so adamantly opposed to government that actually returns some benefit to taxpayers instead of their own pockets that they are still enjoying the "Thelma and Louise" thrill ride. And there's some hope that they might actually understand the "economics of anarchy"

The cult which is Q has hypnotized many others into what amounts to cult membership, and that is totally irrational.

I’ve read a bunch about cults, and interestingly, BPD (borderline personality disorder) and its milder forms, amounting to co-dependence (from having to deal with certain people) and these various disorders all have a lot of behaviors in common.

I got a lot of value from “The Addictive Organization” by Anne Wilson Schaef, and also “When Society Becomes an Addict” also by her. Cults share many traits with addiction.

So, we are past rationality here. The brainwashing has produced a lot of zombies.

And the force of that addiction is stronger than the realization that it has zero benefit, other than the rage. (Which is not a benefit, but people will do what stimulates the limbic system. “The Old Brain” as they say.)

And the only to beat them is to outnumber them and enact good and decent laws.

I quote from the epilogue of "Stamped From the Beginning", by Ibram X Kendi.
He gave up on changing “hearts and minds” and

An antiracist America can only be guaranteed if principled antiracists are in power, and then antiracist policies become the law of the land, and then antiracist ideas become the common sense of the people, and then the antiracist common sense of the people holds those antiracist leaders and policies accountable.

That is: change the culture. The prevalent one is way toxic.

Egged on by Infowars and Gavin McInnes. A toxic brew of self loathing crappy self identified victims of the system. This has given them a purpose and an identity. These weak minded nitwits have been used and lives utterly ruined. It's a horrible cult. I don't know what it will take to break the spell.

You can read up on cults. This seems patterned after the nazi cult. Of course, that one suffered total defeat. That probably corresponds to when people “hit rock bottom”.

Cults seem to survive at some percentage of the population, like 10 or 15% who can’t and won’t escape. Some seem to find some kind of betrayal that pries them loose (and we are talking the world’s poster boy for betrayal, STARTING with his wife. That voodoo is pretty powerful.) Other means are when the contradiction is too much to bear. And so on. If you are really interested, there are books and articles. I can only summarize very briefly.

You see some MAGAts sensing betrayal, though sometimes in odd ways, as in “he didn’t go far enough” And oddly, they didn’t realize that he is the ultimate coward, hiding behind others at every turn, and throwing every possible person under the bus.

And in one word: PROJECTION.
Every Accusation is a Confession

https://democraticunderground.com/100216777247

I am not a psychologist! And the answer, as I’ve stated above, is not to try to cure poisoned minds, but to gain power, and change the culture of acceptable behavior.

I believe the turn came when the black guy walked into the white house. My best friend at that time went NUTTY and it was only then that I saw her ferocious racism. Never knew before that. It escalated and the tea party SO appealed to her. dumpty came along to solidify her feelings and make it OK to be openly racist. And here we are.
