(258 posts)I voted early. Ballots were mailed out the week of 10/17. You had your option of mailing them back, dropping them off at an early voting location, or voting in person. With threats of violence and other shenanigans, most everyone I know (all Ds) voted early.

(1,654 posts)According to Ralston, the singular expert in Nevada, Rs winning the in-person vote is typical of E-Day.

Pollsters say Republicans may wake up to different results Wednesday due to absentee ballots
Michigan voters are accustomed to getting election results on election night but that won't be the case this Tuesday night. In fact it may be 24 hours after the polls close that we will know who won in some key races and this could create another debate over who really won.
FOX 2 (WJBK) - Michigan voters are accustomed to getting election results on election night but that won't be the case this Tuesday night. It may be 24 hours after the polls close that we will know who won in some key races and this could create another debate over who really won.
"I am really worried about what is going to happen on election night," said Richard Czuba.
Czuba, a Michigan pollster, with Glengariff, is not alone.
The person in charge of running a smooth, fair, and accurate election is worried as well - on two fronts. First, about potential distractions in and around polling places, and Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson worries about how long it will take to count a mountain of absentee ballots of well over 1.2 million.
Those will not be counted on election eve.
So when will we know the final results of the election?
"It will be about a day, until Wednesday evening when, especially in close races, we'll know the full unofficial results of the election," Benson said.
On Election Day most of the voters will be Republicans which means after the polls close, those votes will be counted. And based on those Republican votes, candidate for governor Tudor Dixon could announce that she is the winner and the GOP candidate for state attorney general, Matt DePerno, could do the same.

(15,510 posts)I'm sure we have the early vote lead.

(7,876 posts)...that is pretty terrible for Republicans. I believe Democrats have around a 40k early vote "firewall" in this county and Election Day is only expected to trend younger and more Democratic as the day goes on. For Republicans to have only cut 5k into that lead during what is expected to be the best part of their day, ehhh.
It's still early, so we'll just have to wait and see...

(34 posts)5,292 have voted in Washoe County. Here's the breakdown by party:
1,065 Democrats
2,878 Republicans
1,349 Nonpartisans
Democrats' lead in early/mail voting Washoe lead wiped out in the first 2 hours of Election Day.

(1,184 posts)Lost Washoe by about 1,600.
Try not to worry too much or extrapolate yet. It's quite early

(4,616 posts)Since mail in ballots in Washoe County have until 11/12 to be received an counted. Where did you get your numbers that aren't even available in Washoe County yet?

(53,061 posts)We have a 12,000k lead in Dem ballots over R in pre election day voting state wide.
Outside of Clark County you would expect more R than D votes.
Going to be very close and will be decided by the unaffiliated voters

Rep trend did come down, by only by 0.4% in an hour and 50 minutes. This significantly increases margin on the trend line. Three points is better than two for sure. Dems still have a lot of work to do to make this up. Turnout at 40k, was at 24k at the same time in 2020 (+66%).

Without knowing any numbers on mail in votes.

(1,654 posts)Nevada guru Jon Ralston (who only yesterday predicted Dems would hold the NV Senate seat) says that Rs currently lead in the urban areas by 6,500. Dems usually win the urban areas and try to hold off the Repubs in the rural counties.
Not only that, only about 4-5% of those who voted today are in the 18-24 age group.
So unless indies are breaking for Dems, or Repubs are crossing over, or Dems are mailing ballots in at a rate not seen yet, well, Ralston says, "I see red people."
Ugh.

(1,184 posts)Do you mind sharing a link? Thanks!
EDIT: I see his Tweet now. I'm still unclear whether that includes early voting, and he says it does not include mail drop boxes or mail delivered today:

I'll wait and see
BlueCheeseAgain
(1,654 posts)It does not include mail ballots arriving today or later, or mail ballots being dropped off in drop boxes.
As for a link, please try Jon Ralston's Twitter feed. (I'm purposely not linking to Twitter at the moment, but it's easy to find.)

(1,184 posts)I found the Tweet right as you were replying
Like I said, I'll wait and see. His asterisk about drop boxes and mail that came in today is doing a lot of heavy lifting. Not saying he's wrong, but I will go crazy if I try to read too much too early.

(1,654 posts)I've followed this guy's reporting ever since 2016, when he correctly predicted that the Ds would win the state each time. I'm nervous about it now. He does say it's an apple-to-oranges election, so that appears to be our best hope right now.

(19,193 posts)We see this every cycle and it usually burns us. I remember reading about Florida returning more Dem ballots in 2016. Wait until they start with results.

(4,616 posts)who went into a poling place and voted in person. Not sure how YOU know the totality of all votes. Especially since they have until 11/12 to arrive.
BlueCheeseAgain
(1,654 posts)So we need a boost from mail ballots arriving today or later, as well as those dropped off in drop boxes today.
