Note: that 360% was the *pre-election* rate. And young people are not stopping there. Urge everyone you know to vote -- and even if they aren't registered, they can do so in line! LFG.

(1,654 posts)Wisconsin doesn't have party registration, so people aren't officially Dems or Repubs.
If you look at TargetSmart, the 18-29 age group comprised only 1.9% of the early vote in Wisconsin, down from 4.0% in 2018 and 5.5% in 2020.

(129,662 posts)I would think the parties have a line of "internal" communications between themselves and state officials (in whatever capacity might be allowable) in terms of reviewing/validating registrations and other election data, rules/procedures, etc.
The SOS is a (D) (who is apparently up for election this year too).

BumRushDaShow
(129,662 posts)and who turned one in and have all sorts of demographics on that person because in order to register to vote they usually need some sort of government ID and/or birth certificate, etc., which would include race and gender, among other things.
Hell here in Philly, they recently released lists of names (along with birth year/zips/precincts next to the name) of voters who needed to "cure" their ballots. I was actually surprised that they did the birth year thing but then that could be to account for people who have the same name so they can determine whether they or someone else needed to take action (especially since probably 99.9% of people would have no idea what their "Voter ID" number is! All of this stuff is barcoded (and even QR-coded) now.

My statement on the Pennsylvania Supreme Court's ruling on undated and incorrectly dated mail ballots below.
It is strongly advised that the voters on these lists request a replacement ballot to avoid the potential rejection of their ballot. https://vote.phila.gov/news/2022/11/05/ballots-administratively-determined-to-have-no-secrecy-envelope-or-no-signature-no-date-or-a-potentially-incorrect-date-on-return-envelope

BumRushDaShow
(129,662 posts)they have this interesting thing I found from the PA Dept. of State Data Hub site - https://www.dos.pa.gov/VotingElections/BEST/Pages/Data-Hub.aspx
Dont see a particular dataset online? Pennsylvania residents have the ability to make a Right to Know Law request for data that may not already be publicly available on the Departments website. Please see below for more information.
If youd like to submit a Right to Know Law request for data, please email RA-RTK-DOS@pa.gov.
Statewide Absentee and Mail-in Voter File
Currently, registered Pennsylvania voters, candidates or political parties may request a statewide file of all voters who have requested and returned absentee or mail-in ballots. This list will contain a list of applications that were requested and whether the ballot was mailed or returned to the county board of elections. In order to receive this list, you must complete the Statewide Absentee and Mail-in Voter Request form and send it to the Bureau for review and approval. The email account is listed below.
If youd like to get in contact with the Bureau of Election Security and Technology for other data requests, please email RA-STBEST@pa.gov.
This is apparently as a result of PA's 2009 "Right to Know" law - https://www.openrecords.pa.gov/RTKL/About.cfm
There is certain info that is "public". But there is other info the state has that is considered "PII" (Personaly Identifiable Information) that a couple state loons (including one who was the GOP President Pro-tem of the state Senate) subpoened the state for (i.e, PII for 9 million PA voters). Josh Shapiro, our AG (and (D) candidate for governor) successfully sued them. That happened a year ago.

Pennsylvania Senate Republicans want to take your social security numbers, drivers license numbers and give them to an unknown third party to fuel their sham audit.
Thats why yesterday, I sued them in court to protect your right to privacy and our democracy.

(53,061 posts)You can pick a stat here or there but the aggregate in Wisconsin early voting is Dem + 3 %
18-29 year olds are only 5% of early vote, easy to have big increase when the base number is so low.
The total vote for 18-49 is only 30%
Women's vote is up 53 to 42 but the bottom line is that it is still only Democrats+ 3
Higher women numbers are a good indicator but we need independent women to pull our way and Republican women to cross over.

Good news, bad math.
"In Wisconsin, so far, compared to 2018... the youth vote is at 360%."
If it was at 100% then it would be 100% as high, meaning the same as before.
If it was at 150% then it would be 50% higher.
If it was at 200% then it would be 100% higher.
If it was at 300% then it would be 200% higher.
But since it was at 360% then it's 260% higher.

Live in Minnesota and it hasn't been too bad except a few years ago we had lurkers supposedly "helping" people with their vote or something, but they were skin heads and scary.
Worst part is Minnesota has been redistricted. I fear 2024 in a big way. The state looks mostly red.
Even now...
