I remember the 2014 midterms and how Democrats underperformed expectations in senate races. I remember Virginia specifically. Mark Warner was expected to beat Ed Gillespie by a fairly comfortable margin. The state was categorized as 'Likely D' by most outlets - and the other outlet who didn't categorize it as 'Likely D' had it 'Lean D'.

Warner won but only by .8% - not even a percentage point - despite polls having him up, on average, by 9 points at the end.

It was this race I knew Democrats were in for a rough, rough night. And they were.
