New Hampshire elects first trans man to a state legislature

New Hampshire has become the first state to elect an transgender man to a state legislature in United States history.
Democrat James Roesener won his race to represent New Hampshire State House District 22, Ward 8, the Concord Monitor reports. He is one of a record number of trans candidates to run for office this year.
Annise Parker, president and CEO of the political advocacy group LGBTQ Victory Fund, called Roesener’s victory “a resounding win for New Hampshire and for trans people across the country.”
