Despite a strong start from incumbent U.S. Rep. Lauren Boebert, her challenger Adam Frisch took the lead in the contentious race Tuesday night as election officials continued to count ballots.
Early and unofficial election results show Frisch, Democrat of Aspen, ahead of Boebert, Republican of Silt, 53% to 47%, as of 7:44 p.m., the Secretary of States Office reported. So far 129,200 votes have been counted.
Should Frisch hold his lead, his win would make for another major shakeup in Colorados massive 3rd Congressional District. Political scientists considered him to be a long-shot candidate running against an incumbent in a solidly Republican district.
