I was happy to see Witmer won. Even with polling showing her up 3.5, I was seeing predictions that Tudor Dixon would win.

I heard someone on MSNBC saying Patty Murray was in trouble. The polls and pundits have egg on their faces.

They also appear to have flipped the Senate.

This will be the first trifecta D’S since 1984!!!

Thank God for our citizens commission for redistricting, which stopped most (but not all) of the extreme gerrymandering that the R’s have used against D’S here for decades!

Although there are still several seats not decided, it will be AT LEAST a 19-19 split, with the dem Lt Gov to break a tie. So the Dems WILL control the Senate. It COULD be as much as 22 seats. Michigan House, Senate and Governor trifecta!!

This is the land of polluted water and charter school takeovers. This is Betsy DeVos's putrid evangelical hate incubation family system. The regular people have rebuked them. This is the electorate saving democracy!!!!

...is none of the best pieces of news from last night. We need to take over more statehouses and win more local races.

Good job Michigan.

And speaking of Michigan, Michael Moore is somebody who got what happened last night closer to right than anyone else I've seen.

will have to be dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century. It's really sad because I love the geography of the state but a lot of the people, not so much.

the three distinct regions. I lived in Charlotte and I could be in Asheville in less than two hours and the beach in a little over three. I got harassed mercilessly when I campaigned for Harvey Gantt to unseat Jesse Helms. The racism was overt. Saw my first KKK rally on my way to the coast one time. They were in full regalia. I just stared and couldn't believe that in 1985 this was still happening.
