Elon Musk: "Please note that Twitter will do lots of dumb things in coming months. We will keep what

works & change what doesn’t."

I think he's trying to regain some credibility - and get some sympathy - with what he tweeted minutes ago.

But some of the mistakes he's already made were in getting rid of things that worked.

And no one has any assurance he'll be able to tell the difference between what works and what doesn't. Or any assurance that his definition of what's working will match most people's.

But he's trying to sound less arrogant, though I don't think he's fooling anyone.

He is blaming twitter for doing dumb things. Not him.

It's not his fault.

British Prime-Minister Boris Johnson played this persona of being a relatable, humble, bumbling fool (while being the most arrogant elitist imaginable) and this allowed him to deflect all instances in which he said or did something stupid as "Boris-being-Boris".

Elon Musk is trying the same: Preemptively saying that he will fuck up, so people cannot get mad at him for fucking up.
"Why are you mad? I've already told you that fucking up is part of the plan!!!"

The belief that Twitter will stay a behemoth simply because it *is* one is folly. Twitter proved the concept and will even serve as the tool with which its successors will build their own--but unlike Twitter, it won't take a decade or more to reach critical mass. Tick tock mofer.

He has no real idea what to do but he'll know it when he sees it. Sounds like a fast track to the land of lost brands.
