Trump's election scorecard

Won in 2016, but lost the popular vote.
Lost the House big in 2018.
Lost the WH and the Senate in 2020.
No red wave comeback in 2022.

With the exception of one upset win in 2016, he has been as bad at politics as he's been at the businesses that he's bankrupted. Most of his support comes from being in a hyper partisan, political environment where a large segment of his support comes from people who simply hate Democrats and will vote for whoever opposes them in an election. For example, see Herschel Walker.

All that he can really do is draw some rubes out to a rally somewhere.

Either Trump is going to be unable to run for the Presidency, (which will be a victory) or we are going to be viewing a battle royale between Trump and DeSantis for the next two years; a real Wagnerian battle between the gods of the Republican cult. With a little luck, the Götterdämmerung of the soulless party will split the Republicans into two factions, dumb and dumber, leaving them impotent for '24.

If Trump is out of it, I don't believe that the Preppy Nazi from Florida will be able to pull the heartstrings of the far right. The toothless gun guys and their uneducated molls identify with Trump as "one of them." I don't think that DeSantis has the personality to instill the blind following of the far right, and without the far right, the Republicans lose everything.

Regardless of the final number from the election, I am feeling a little more optimistic the future. I had already tied the knot to hang myself if the predicted red wave washed over us. My dog will be happy to have her leash back.

5. There was a red wave in the House. It's a small wave

Kevin McCarthy will be the next speaker and all committees will be GOP.

Trump is fading, but there are more like him waiting in the wings. Sure they don't have the exposure that he has, but never discount the GOP.

4. He's fading. There was a red wave, (in the House), but it was a small wave.

However, Trump will no longer be calling the shots.
However, there are more where he came from.

Trump is not the GOP. The GOP was there before him and will still be here.

6. The "red wave in the House" is just historical regression to the norm.

All parties out of presidential power do well in the House in the mid terms after a new president is elected with the exception of 2004 and that was due to 9/11 and the Iraq War resolution.

The headline is Dem victories in PA, MI, GA, AZ, and possibly NV. This election was a repudiation of Republicans.
