All the Republican signs lining the main street in my little northern Michigan village ....

Are all completely gone today, every last one! Ha ha ha ha! Well, that didn't take long for my poor misguided neighbors to tuck their tails between their legs and put their losers' signs in the trash! I'll be driving by their houses and laughing mightily for the next week or so, for sure! Pure, lovely, delicious schadenfreude is a dish best served HOT!

I grew up between Charlevoix and East Jordan. Charlevoix was more liberal than the galoots in East Jordan and then Antrim County, but it was still too much for me to stay. I'm in blue Lansing/East Lansing now and my blood pressure is much lower.

And parts of that area are blue, but away from the touristy places it's deep red and bitter.

Small towns in Northern Michigan can be 2 things, quaint, or desolate wastelands.

These small towns make for bitter residents. The good jobs left with the manufacturing. And there's resentment towards the rich liberals who come up to stay at cottages in the area, or visit wine country.

But Torch Lake is incredible.

as did my wife and now...our daughter. Speaking of my daughter, she said the MSU students were VERY engaged in voting the last few weeks. I also saw some pics yesterday in Ann Arbor and for once I have to say: GO BLUE because they more than did their part as well. We live in a very red area of Kent County (about 30 minutes north of Grand Rapids) and as the OP stated: the signs all around us can't come down fast enough. That's one thing the last two elections have taught me: polls and signs don't mean much.

If those students hadn't voted in the numbers that they did, a Barrett victory would've been likely. It's been so encouraging seeing how energized they are.

Do you live around Fremont or Grant? I know that northern Kent County is a whole other animal. I lived in Grand Rapids for years before I moved to Lansing in 2015 so I know the area well.

In north Florida there were lots of signs for Trump/Pets all over, only the bigly ones remained the last months up to the midterms.

Lots of Ronda Santis signs for 2024 though.

Dems in Florida should do more considering how the # of reg voters vs turnout is.

Overall, could be worse nationally!

In my northern area, sickeningly bright red, there's a tRump camp on a very public lake that has 20 foot signs from 2020 with the cheeto mussolini and now they have 2024 signs. Many along my shortcut still have his signs out and 2020/2024 flags and signs.

My local grocery store has a person parking in the customer area who works there and should be parking further away and has a pickup with a fulll portrait of tRump decal on the passenger side.

I would be dishonest if I didn't say I momentarily thought of keying the clowns truck, but that would lower me to their damaged level.
I'll be out and about tomorrow and will look for party signs being removed.

On another note, did anyone notice that the republican campaign signs of sold blue were in the majority. I didn't see any red styled democratic signs. Republicans weren't stopping at anything dirty.

My area is beautiful year round. tRumpanzees and maga's not so much.

Just imagine back in 2020 when we had to wear masks in stores with no exception for entering. 10 signs on the doors but maga's walk right in and yell it's their god given right not to wear masks.

In the same store I tried to stop a maga coming through the doors and said nicely, oh, you forgot your mask, didn't you see the signs that say you can't enter the store without a mask? He pulled his shirt up in front of everybody at the counter and showed his pistol in his waist and said what the f*k are you going to do about it. Lots of this crap went on. All over the country.

Remember a young girl, cashier at that same store that fought about the masks too. She'd take it off at the register and another worker would say put it back on and she would say no, there's plenty of glass panels and stuff. She got fired finally.
Sadly she died of covid in June 2020 because I asked about her later. But not before she got her whole family sick and a few co-workers at that store. She was only 27. It wasn't just old people dying. I lost a 32 year old cousin.

And it's not a coincidence that maga's have the highest incidents of death from covid as the deep red states like Kentucky and others down there lead with the highest death and active cases stats in the country. Republicans lead in total deaths from covid than democrats. From the moment tRump said wearing masks makes him look weak. Desatan (fla) tried to pull a mask off a student some time ago.

It's a travesty that decent people are still dying from covid when they don't have to. Covid deaths are down but the maga's have us sane people for helping them keep their death counts down because we got vaccinated to protect ourselves thus protecting family and strangers. Maga's don't seem to understand consideration and compassion.

So people are still dying of stupid three years and ongoing.

Like how you can click on the flags & bombs and get the latest information. Posting links to most websites is OK
exceptions are basically for websites selling products, if you are unsure if something is allowed, go to the very
bottom of the page you're on and click on "Terms of service".

On the left hand side you'll see "Topics", click on it and it'll show you the different groups you might enjoy, at the very
bottom click on "Places" and then on "U.S." and it'll show all 50 States, click on your State and when it opens up at the
very top will be a button that says "Subscribe to this group" If you click on that you'll get a notice whenever someone
posts a new OP in that group. One group I subscribe to is the "Humor" group which is under "Offbeat". Look through
everything under "Topics" and discover like minded people.

BTW, you can type words into the "Reply title", ??????s work, so do ........s

This "retention thing" you speak of, toward the top of any page click on "My Posts" and you'll see everything you
have said here. Hope all this helps you, have a good day!

Sorry, I wasn't making fun of where you live, but the magats sound hellish.

I'm in red hellhole TN & I know exactly what you mean about magat maskholes. There was only a short period of time when many people wore masks inside of stores.

The stupidity is incomprehensible, unless experienced first-hand, which I definitely do not recommend.

Just even little things. I stopped into a dollar store to pick up a couple of things & had to wait while the cashier filled a couple of balloons with helium.

When it was my turn, I greeted her & said, "Wow! I'm surprised stores are still allowed to fill balloons with helium" which, of course, resulted in the typical bovine stare. Then she said, "What you mean?"

And I told her, "There is a finite supply of helium & what we have left is critical for MRI's & other medical purposes."

This seemed to really confise her. Another bovine stare, followed by, "I don't know. I didn't have none for 2 weeks & I finally got some."

I've actually considered writing a book about some of the absurdities of living here & the absolutely outrageous things people do & say.

Sorry to hear about your cousin being a covid victim.

Not only are magats anti-vax & anti-mask, but they seem to deep fry everything, presumably resulting in the much higher than average BMI. Covid literally hijacks the body's fat producing system & feeds on it. Horrid disease.

If you need anything here at DU, please don't hesitate to ask. We are a very friendly & supportive community.

Sorry I don't have the answer to what happened when you forgot to type a subject. Yup, I've done that more than a few times, but I hit the back button & my whole message is still there, so I only needed to fill in the subject.

I hope you enjoy the community. There are loads of different interest groups inder the forums & groups tab near the top.

But I believe you've hit on one of the magat's misguided health benefits of covid maybe purported by doc Oz. Many believe covid can help you lose weight. Not to mention depending on what oil one uses, deep frying can clog the brain which might explain a few other minor things.

Not only are magats anti-vax & anti-mask, but they seem to deep fry everything, presumably resulting in the much higher than average BMI. Covid literally hijacks the body's fat producing system & feeds on it. Horrid disease.

TN is a perpetual international disgrace! Clearly vying with MS, AR, AL, MO, TX, FL & LA for 50th in everything, unless they are trying for the big #1 - most covid deaths.

Glad you didn't take my response the wrong way.

I'm not sure why Amercans tend to idolize football and what I call "football mentality" -- on or off the field. Personally, to me, it personifies all the problems in the world, tbh: take what you want by force and the end always justifies the means.

IMHO from what little I've read, Walker is likely suffering with traumatic brain injury which, at best, often results in symptoms consistent with intermittent explosive disorder. And this guy wants to be a senator?

This guy couldn't polish Obama's shoes, much less compete with him academically or any other way.

Oz told magats they will lose weight if they get covid? Hows about push away from the table a bit sooner?

In keeping with TN's perpetual international embarrasment status, both Lee & Kustoff won by margins of about 75% to 25% for Dem opponents.

I was so hopeful, cautiously optimistic, but knew deep down it wouldn't be so, when I saw a lot of women voting alone last THursday. (Many women here seem to feel they "need a maaaaan" to accomplish anything. )
At least there is a movement apparently underway already to unseat Derpaska's asset, Blackburn next go around. Gawd, another international embarrassment - she won by a huge margin last time.

I guess you just can't fix stupid. (The stupidity here is truly incomprehensible, unless experienced first-hand, which I definately do not recomment. I never, ever could have imagined this...)

Well, you stay safe, too & enjoy DU!

When I worked retail we were definitely not allowed to park in customer spots. You could say his taking that spot prevented you from shopping on a day the lot was almost full (maybe stretching it since I don't know your location) but that is arrogant on his/her imposing political views on customers.

Living in blue area, almost all the political signage is in blue with name and office but no party mentioned. If they can steal a vote by trickery they do.

I just know it's an employee because it's always in the same spot right next to the store by the handicapped spots. Only way to get that would be to be at the store before it opens. Some day I'm sure I'll figure it out. He/she also has confederate flag tire flaps and bumper sticker.

Could be that guy from 2 years ago with the gun in his pants. lol. Not worth it unless he confronts me directly. If he touches me than I have legal cause to shove his teeth down his stupid throat and his confederate flag up his butt. And enjoy every minute.

I also noticed since the 2020 election the republicans stopped putting their party affiliation on most of their lawn signs and being quite a few in all blue. Obviously some campaign hack thought deeply about this ploy. It's too bad the red party stopped actually caring about people and platforms and went full on maga for power.
