Maybe we should consider doing the same thing for Nancy Pelosi, but maybe send them to her house rather than her office.
I have no idea how it was done. I'll help out, but I can't take charge.

I suggest sending both office and home, office for recognition of her job and around her colleagues, and home where it is more private and for family.

also are you considering setting up a GFM to collect donations? Have you set a sight on how many dozen of roses to send?
Shes been Speaker for 7 (8?) years, but in Congress 36 years.
Keep us updated

(46,082 posts)It would work best when she's at home during the break.
And Go Fund Me is probably the best way to go. I figured we'd see how much money we have and go from there. Someone in this thread is going to set up a poll about how to spend the money.

As I remember, we contacted one of the office secretaries and coordinated the delivery. Correct me if my memory is faulty.

Paypal seems the easiest. I'd handle the money IF I can get two people to work as auditors. I'll only handle money if I can be assured there will be a way to account for it.
We'd need someone to find a florist that can supply a huge amount of flowers and get them delivered. Someone at DU must know a good company. We'd also need someone to research the residence address (and not post it here but DM it) and someone to coordinate with her office staff.
Changed my mind. Go fund Me is better.

(29,676 posts)And send a small bouquet purchased from a locally owned shop. A donation for a good cause and something pretty to brighten their day that also benefits a local business offers the best of both.

iemanja
(53,072 posts)If my memory weren't like a sieve. Still, all we have to do is gather donations on GoFundMe or Paypal, and then order flowers. If we give to a charity, we'll need to decide which one. We also have to figure out if she's in DC or San Francisco. Oh, we don't have her home address and probably can't get it. We sent Boxer's to her office. We might be able to send flowers to her husband, if we can find out the hospital he's in.
wryter2000
(46,082 posts)If that creep could find it, I imagine we can. Or maybe get help from someone in her office handling that delivery.

I like the idea of one bouquet of flowers and donating the rest to a charity, perhaps even to Warnock's campaign--in honor of Nancy, of course.

(53,072 posts)Someone suggested a florist. I can look up reviews on local florists in either DC or San Fran, but we need to figure out where we are sending them to. Pelosi does have a San Francisco office. https://pelosi.house.gov/contact-me/offices/san-francisco-district-office

(2,895 posts)to celebrate the official confirmation of her recent graduation from UC Berkeley (after she returned last spring at 48!). Speaker Pelosi appointed Sascha as a delegate to the CA Dems in 2017, and just recently appointed her to the National Council on Disability, and has been very supportive.
She (or rather her office, I'm sure) sent the flowers to Sascha via Hoogasian Flowers in SF. (They included artificial sunflowers in solidarity with Ukraine.) https://www.hoogasian.com/
Just want to add that Sascha was sworn in at the SF office on Monday, and there were already tons of flowers sent with best wishes and support for Paul Pelosi. But I am all in, whatever you decide!

Maybe we can ask her office to give the address to the florist or think of another way to get flowers delivered. We'll need someone to contact them.
iemanja
(53,072 posts)but that's a good idea about the staffer giving her address to the florist.
I've found an address online but don't know if it's legit.

(90,806 posts)Give that person a small rundown about DU, say that wed like to send flowers, but would like to do it in a way that is not intrusive, so is it okay to send it to her home? And how do we make that happen?
(If you want, you can mention that DU honored both the great journalist Helen Thomas and Senator Barbara Boxer in this way, and tho Ms. Thomas has passed away, they can check with former Senator Boxer about us if they want.)

(46,082 posts)I'll also post in the poll thread.
If this has to be done quickly, I can't help with it. If it can be put off until the congressional break, when she'll be at home, I'm in.
What I'm thinking is, if we end up in the minority (God forbid), she might retire. That might be the best time to honor her.
I will certainly contribute, no matter what.
