Israel can exhibit a strong conservative streak (electing Netanyahu yetanAgain) but theres the whole survival thing going on there that American Jews have not been experiencing, though I am feeling a change in climate, starting to feel unwelcome.
And Im not even Jewish. But my husband and son (by upbringing) are. And we live in a pretty solidly blue area. My husband has renewed his passport and has gotten a concealed carry permit, despite both of us being adamantly opposed to lax gun laws. I cant believe that weve gotten to a point in this country that we have to consider leaving as a real option.
