(9,121 posts)I've heard Youngkin's name float around on the Right very vaguely, but I don't think it would work or be taken seriously. Youngkin is well-liked in harder right circles, but he's not seen as someone motivating or with much charisma.
For as much as our side says DeSantis has no personality, the Right loves him. Videos of him tussling with the media during press conferences circulate widely. I've never seen anything close with Youngkin.
But when it comes to the hard right, Youngkin does carry some respect for being as conservative as he's been in a state like Virginia. Who he endorses would matter to a lot of the non-NeverTrump right.
If Trump had made that post without the weird name thing, it would've been in a simple "Stay loyal to me!" vein, but he's an asshole and has to get that little shitty shot in about the name. It's who he is. An easily wounded and insecure bully child who has to belittle to build himself up.
A normal person would rein it in a bit after Tuesday, but he can't. It's not him.

(6,766 posts)He did support Lying Jen Kiggans in her defeat of Elaine Luria, which may turn out to be the seat that switched the House.
BTW he was never pelted for his CRT BS in Virginia.

(866 posts)And there is broad hatred for him. Virginia cannot be broadly labeled as a purple state. Virginia is a blue state, an extremely educated state, that gets pissed off and the rightful school closing pissed off suburban women who couldnt get child care. And Youngkin ran as the education candidate. Then he proved to be an anti-education, MAGA ass. McAullife was over confident.
