Jamie Harrison (chairman DNC) on Joy Reid's show said they did employ a 50 State strategy...

(me: maybe not enough in time? )

Can't quite follow the rest while I type

This in regards to some posted on previous
thread (?s) about - they didn't do that.

Noticed bc I like the 50 State strategy.

They can give lump sums to DSCC, DCCC et al; MOST of their money goes to State Party support.

block walks, phone banks, postcard parties.
I was usually invited to 3 blockwalks for specific candidates per week, and we had a zoom phonebank with three shifts a day for weeks.

I have lived here since 1989 and I have never seen this much going on for any election

I know how hard TCDP works behind the scenes without national support. We never give up. And I would say since getting involved in 2007-2016, the party has gotten more active and involved.

Thank you for your continued support!

I’d like to believe this but I just don’t think so. I’m in Kentucky and I know a lot of democrats who simply don’t vote. They feel like democrats in red states have been abandoned. I understand why they feel that way.

I saw on the KY map that Frankfort and Lexington have been separated into two different districts. Damn shame. If both were in the same district, KY would have another Dem in Congress.

It was so bad here that there were many elections where the downballot only had Republican candidates. This has changed a LOT in the past 12 years, but we still have a lot of work to do.

We still don't have the turnout of Democrats that we should have, but it has improved. The way to start making it better is to hit the ground running on the local elections. This is how the Republicans did it. City Councils, school boards, county commissioners, JPs etc.

forgive me if I have already asked this but what part of KY? I am from Western KY 40 miles south of Bowling Green.

I thought they didn't do that until the polls were closed across the state.

I guess the Eastern Time which is Louisville and the big news just broke it before the West could vote.

That is one thing we don't do here. We have El Paso county and one more that are on Mountain time. When our numbers first go up, if they do go up before the polls close out there, it will just be the votes counted here (early and mail in votes at first) It is usually at least an hour or more before the Election Day votes start posting. We do not see the rest of the state until after El Paso is done.

They arrived at the poll about 10 minutes before they closed so they were already in line. I was told about 8 or 9 people left. Yes they could’ve stayed and still voted, but if the race is called why waste their time. I get it.

It shows there was support for their candidate. It shows it wasn’t a total blowout.

I would never leave without voting. Please inform your friends why it IS important.

it might take a decade depending on how wrecked the party infrastructure is.

JMHO, but he seems to have done a great job. If you look at all the gains we made at the state level in places where the party fabric wasn't threadbare, you can see the results. Some states where we could make gains may have been too far gone this cycle, though

He did a great job and it takes time to build up the infrastructure. 50 state work takes a ton of resources so we need to do our part to make the strategy a reality.

NC state party blew the Court races.

Iowa and Florida state parties are practically invisible.

I get that we did well in some states, but, a 50 state strategy did not happen - certainly not as it did between 2005-2008. The rebuilding then was vibrant. I’d say DNC had a 30 state strategy and did well enough with that.

because there's a conservative zeitgeist there at the moment--sort of the inverse of the way CA typically works.

I don't know the state of the IA party, but it seems like the state party had been slipping away since 2008. At any rate, I'm not going to defend every decision he made and I hope he wouldn't either, but he says he spent $90 million on the ground game and I think we got a pretty good return on that investment.

My observation was aimed at the claim of a ‘50 state strategy’ when it wasn’t. He did do well with the partial rebuild. Hoping for a full one the next 2 years.

Howard Dean knew how to do a 50 state strategy. I don't know why they essentially got rid of him.
I was so excited to shake his hand in 2008 in New Mexico.
