There are still too many people out there eager to end democracy, or too stupid to recognize where the threats to democracy are coming from, but for now, Americans, by a few percentage points here and there, put off Republican's big plans for a fascist power grab.
Even if we lose the House, Republicans will have a slim majority and a hellishly unruly, ungovernable caucus to deal with. That will make revenge impeachments of Biden and others a much less likely thing.
Without needing to count on the rare resource of Republican decency, I'm fairly certain that corporate America can buy off a few Rs to help reduce the chances of government shutdowns and debt ceiling crises.
As far as I can tell from the results so far, swing-state election deniers aren't going to be able to have the impact they'd hoped for.
We get at least get another two-year respite to try to save the country again in 2024, without having to worry so much that 2024 will be hopelessly rigged before we get there.
