We need to begin to think more in the future. With Roe almost off the table when we get it codified

what is the next major issue will the Dems be able to use to get out the vote? I believe we need to keep linking choice rights to more than just abortion. Lurking in the background is the insane push by some major Republicans to make the USA a "Christian" nation. Without even explaining what that means to their base they know their base will eat that up. No matter how fake that issue may actually be, it will motivate the base just as abortion and immigration has.

They will also be using "lowering taxes" but will really be intending to give the wealthy more tax breaks. We need to hear more and more about who is paying their fair share mixed with a little bit of history about the how higher tax rates on the wealthy during 50s and 60s actually was good for our overall standard of living. The wealthy still made money and the government coffers were able to help veterans and everyone else.

I also think we need to do a better job of explaining how climate change and refusal to do anything to stem it will impact immigration and migration. There is a narrative with this issue that should be carefully developed to benefit all of us including those being displaced by climate change.

Preparing ahead of time, now, we can own the narrative and shape the issues our way.

We need to begin to think more in the future. With Roe almost off the table when we get it codified (Original Post) Samrob Nov 2022 OP
Take up wage disparity. griffi94 Nov 2022 #1
How do you think we can get it codified? Autumn Nov 2022 #2
Point. It's not going to be 'codified.' (And I hate that term.) Grins Nov 2022 #4
I agree with you 100%. As it stands Roe is over and done with. There is no bringing it back. Autumn Nov 2022 #6
Can you say more about that? mahina Nov 2022 #7
It takes House, Senate, WH, and a Supreme Court that won't find an excuse to nullify. Hermit-The-Prog Nov 2022 #8

Engage organized labor more. Push for more affordable healthcare and more affordable education.
Really beat those drums.

And it will be a useless battle in a bigger war. It “sounds” like a solution but it’s not because it addresses the wrong issue.

Do you mean protecting choice couldn’t be made into federal law?

What is the right issue?

Thanks.

* Healthcare is still a big issue. Some states still haven't expanded medicaid. Lots of rural hospitals have closed. Prescription drugs are still to high.

* Raise social security contributions to incomes up to $500,000.

* Outlaw dark money campaign contributions

* Add 4 more supreme court justices

The DNC has spent too much time on the coasts, and not enough in the heartland. Every state is important to us. Local and state elections are important to us - those are how the GOP has managed to gerimander the states so effectively. It's time for us to do the same thing.
