Not to mention the more serious voter suppression efforts and policies

but luckily Michigan is not a fascist state!!!

Many of those students waiting in line for up to 4-6 hours!!! GOD BLESS THEM!!!!

They evidently made the difference in the Elissa Slotkin House district, my very own.... one of the 30 swing districts this election.

but we have same-day registration in Michigan now, part of the citizen initiative passed in 2018 which also allowed "no-reason absentee voting", just in time for COVID...

These "long lines in Michigan" were only reported by what I read, at UM and MSU, but might have been other college jurisdictions that were not mentioned. I have seen no mentions of long lines anywhere else...

but many of the students had to register to vote, also, so that made the process take more time. According to one report, the last students who were in line to vote at 8pm were not able to complete their voting until about 2am!

THAT is dedication, and I am very proud of them!!

The longest I ever had to wait in line to vote, was about an hour at a city precinct in 2008, for the Obama ticket... but the lineup seemed like good news to me.

Six hours in a midterm election? I can't even comprehend that...

when the 2018 midterms passed another citizen initiative for a citizen's commission to redraw all districts after reapportionment.

As a result of now having much fairer districts, the Democrats also won control of both houses of the legislature, which we have not had since 1983--- even though we have won the statewide legislative votes MANY times...

I am very happy with the government of my own state now, if not completely satisfied with the rest of the country...
