(2,271 posts)He didn't show up in a hoodie. Yes, I know, a lot of people will think this is petty, but the way you dress shows respect for the people and place. None of us think much of Gym Jordan showing up every day in shirt sleeves and he does that as a sign of disrespect. It would have been nice if John had buttoned his collar, but baby steps.

(36 posts)I thought maybe I was the only one who noticed the collar button. He's still rocks the suit, though.

(3,547 posts)Did you really think he was going to show up in a hoodie and shorts. Give the man some credit, he knows the difference between campaigning and working in the US senate. He looks fabulous. So proud of the people in my state that elected this man.

(29,219 posts)I think the Senate deserves a bit of decorum. Kirsten is enough for the inappropriate clothing brigade.
(I know, I am a hypocrite because I never wear anything other than jeans and pull over shirt to work... that is when I used to go to the office... now its sweat pants and a T-shirt... and I never turn my camera on)

(70,202 posts)i was looking at tuxes for women a while back. several sites where you can take a pic and get a custom anything. takes a few weeks. i looked at a tux that was about $300 w the extras i wanted.
been available for menswear for quite a while now.

(32,086 posts)The off the rack stuff doesn't usually fit most of them. A lot of basketball players, and some football and hockey players are almost as tall as he is. They also tend to have bigger muscles in certain places, depending on their sport, which exacerbates the situation. I'm sure some of the local pro athletes can give Senator-elect Fetterman some tips on where to find a good tailor, should he decide to expand his wardrobe.

(81,443 posts)you would know how to dress appropriately and youd look terrific. Youd look like you fit in. Its a credibility costume and vivid visual messaging. And possibly a wee bit disarming when dealing with the enemy. Fucks with their earlier presumptions. That can help unsettle then and knock them off their guard (and their game). Its a visual signal that you dont fit their misbegotten assumptions, and they MAY have to reassess. Uh
gee, is this the same guy? The hoodie guy? How come he looks pretty serious all of a sudden? Howd THAT happen?
Visual messaging. It telegraphs Im here, too. Im SUPPOSED TO be here, too. Im an equal here, whether you like it or not. Really can leave them befuddled and not sure how to react.
Destabilize the enemy.

(24,376 posts)If youre wearing a suit, wear the suit. Keep your top shirt collar button fastened and NEVER loosen your tie. If youre going to loosen it, take it off. Never allow yourself to be photographed looking sloppy.
The Gym Jordan look is gauche, pedestrian and unprofessional.
Im so very glad to see John on Capitol Hill.

(739 posts)Velcro attachment to underside of suit neck (so not visible when not wearing it). Then, he'd be able to add and remove as he prefers. Hoodies are comfortable. An easy way to put on a nice jersey hood when in the privacy of his own office.

(15,290 posts)if weight. Iirc, he was over 400lbs, although that's less noticeable on a 6'8" frame. It looks like he's lost more weight since the stroke. He probably needs a couple new suits and some new shirts once he's at his ideal weight.
There was never a question that Fetterman would wear a suit and tie as required.
