He didn't show up in a hoodie. Yes, I know, a lot of people will think this is petty, but the way you dress shows respect for the people and place. None of us think much of Gym Jordan showing up every day in shirt sleeves and he does that as a sign of disrespect. It would have been nice if John had buttoned his collar, but baby steps.

The off the rack stuff doesn't usually fit most of them. A lot of basketball players, and some football and hockey players are almost as tall as he is. They also tend to have bigger muscles in certain places, depending on their sport, which exacerbates the situation. I'm sure some of the local pro athletes can give Senator-elect Fetterman some tips on where to find a good tailor, should he decide to expand his wardrobe.

you would know how to dress appropriately and you’d look terrific. You’d look like you fit in. It’s a “credibility costume” and vivid visual messaging. And possibly a wee bit disarming when dealing with the enemy. Fucks with their earlier presumptions. That can help unsettle then and knock them off their guard (and their game). It’s a visual signal that you don’t fit their misbegotten assumptions, and they MAY have to reassess. “Uh … gee, is this the same guy? The ‘hoodie’ guy? How come he looks pretty serious all of a sudden? How’d THAT happen?”

Visual messaging. It telegraphs “I’m here, too. I’m SUPPOSED TO be here, too. I’m an equal here, whether you like it or not.” Really can leave them befuddled and not sure how to react.

Destabilize the enemy.

If you’re wearing a suit, wear the suit. Keep your top shirt collar button fastened and NEVER loosen your tie. If you’re going to loosen it, take it off. Never allow yourself to be photographed looking sloppy.

The Gym Jordan look is gauche, pedestrian and unprofessional.

I’m so very glad to see John on Capitol Hill.

Velcro attachment to underside of suit neck (so not visible when not wearing it). Then, he'd be able to add and remove as he prefers. Hoodies are comfortable. An easy way to put on a nice jersey hood when in the privacy of his own office.

if weight. Iirc, he was over 400lbs, although that's less noticeable on a 6'8" frame. It looks like he's lost more weight since the stroke. He probably needs a couple new suits and some new shirts once he's at his ideal weight.

There was never a question that Fetterman would wear a suit and tie as required.
