I can imagine many scenarios for such an inadvertent action to occur.

They could have fired it to intercept inbound Russian missiles hitting Ukraine (they fired a huge salvo today) but this one went awry. Both sides are using old stuff, this was bound to happen at some point. Surprised it didn't' happen sooner.

This is a conflict THEY started, this missile or interceptor was involved with a barrage today that was highly damaging, it was so extreme that a chunk of neighborning Moldova, a whole country, lost power.

I think Poland will sympathize with Ukraine's plight.

9. If they are firing air defense missiles which go awry, the blame/cause is still the attackers.

They have a right to defend themselves and accidents happen. It means nothing, culpability-wise, if it turns out to be Ukrainian missile. It is still Russia/Putin's fault.

Ukraine was trying to stop. It’s a bad situation but I think Poland will not retaliate if that is the case.

13. How do you figure that could happen?

How would Ukraine get ahold of a Russian missile? How could they make it seem like Russian launched it? They have radar for these things you know. Your idea makes zero sense.
