Over the last few days, I've been helping cure ballots for CD3 in the hope of defeating Boebert. I was able to do it from home, I was given a list of names of people who had signatures that needed to be resolved because they were not considered a match to previous signatures. I called them, explained the problem and walked them through the web site to correct their ballot. The people were all young people who simply did not have many signatures on record and since they change, they got flagged. I walked them through taking a picture of their current ID, getting the picture from their phone to their computer and uploading it to the site.
Today is the last day so... Sheesh, back to it.
oh, and 23... That is the number of ballots I've helped cure so far.

(63,912 posts)he essentially said "fill out your ballot correctly the first time!", scolding other voters whose ballots needed "curing." Our state rep responded, merely stating Connecticut's law/procedure). She must be so sick of this guy. My guess is that he rags on her all the time.
Personally, I agonize over my ballots because I am old and my memory is flawed. But I have the luxury of time. I am not a busy young mother, an office worker trying to meet a deadline, or just under the weather. But the last thing I would do is scold a fellow voter over this kind of mistake!

(351 posts)I don't know who ever thought that not teaching kids to wright in cursive was a good idea, but it has created all sorts of problems, and signatures is just one of them. I have 4 great nieces/nephews who cannot write anything in cursive style, and their writing in print is nearly illegible. We've done a great disservice to a whole generation by not teaching them this art. It's no wonder that their overall learning skills have declined, as writing is directly related to the ability to learn and retain knowledge. It's a well known fact (by psychologists, educators, and some others) that information leaves a much greater impression in the human brain if a person writes information rather than just reads it. So, we've intentionally handicapped our children by not making writing an essential skill. We need to fix this mess for the next generations, and rehabilitate as many as possible who have been deprived of this gift.

(21,761 posts)There is an absolute flood of volunteers from both sides. When I started the other day, I was cold calling and that was a disaster So, I switched to texting, explaining who I was and how I could help them cure their ballot. That went much better till this morning, I'm getting no call backs and a lot of pissed people wanting me to leave them alone. I also saw this article about an hour ago:
CO-3 voters tell county clerk they're being harassed to cure ballots
PUEBLO COUNTY, Colo. Voters are telling the Pueblo County Clerk and Recorder that national groups are harassing them to fix issues with their ballots so they can be counted in the close race for Colorado's 3rd Congressional District.
Pueblo County Clerk Gilbert "Bo" Ortiz said one young voter told him the calls and door knocks are too much, and she may not want to vote in the future.
"They are in a frenzy that is created by this close vote," Ortiz said.

People are being flooded by both sides and of course, there is no coordination going on. Plus, while it technically goes on till 11:59 tonight, I'll be knocking off before too much longer. I don't want to bother people much more

(7,817 posts)valid concerns or slight differences? Are the differences discovered by computers or by people?
Ohio Joe
(21,761 posts)Hows that for a wishy washy answer
Ok
The way it works is that they are somehow scanned and compared by computer
The vast majority are accepted that way
Any that are not are manually viewed by a bipartisan (like real bipartisan, real Dems and real repugs equal in number) and if they cant agree the sig could be the same then the voter gets notified that it needs to be cured.
The signature is on the outside of the ballot so nobody knows who the vote is for but both sides know who needs to have a ballot cured and can contact them.
I worked for Dems but I did not ask who anyone voted for so
I have no clue who the votes went to
They were ALL young people that had a short history of on the record signatures that could be compared
I feel confident that the vast majority of young votes went Dem so
Im partying tonight
I hope that all makes sense
