Two arrested in Occupy Oakland antipolice rally

Two people were arrested Saturday night during a relatively peaceful antipolice demonstration organized by Occupy Oakland protesters, the second of its kind in as many weeks, authorities said.

Organizers said they were demonstrating against police abuses, and what they say are the targeted arrests of Occupy members.

The increased focus on law enforcement in Oakland, though, has been criticized by city officials and some activists as a drain on local resources and a distraction from the Occupy Wall Street movement's core theme of economic inequality.

Since Occupy Oakland's original encampment was cleared from Frank Ogawa Plaza, on Oct. 25 and again on Nov. 14, more than 50 people have been arrested in various Occupy demonstrations, said the National Lawyers Guild.

Surely, the Oakland PD doesn't condone the illegal violence committed by their officers under the color of authority? Do they?
