An observation, or maybe a hope: Whenever I see the worried comments

about AG Garland, I think about a very small scene in "Gaudy Night", by Dorothy Sayers. Harriet Vane, our main character, is talking to one of the dons ( we are talking one of the Oxford colleges [fictional]) about a student overworking to the point of suicidal exhaustion as finals approach. The don says, "Sometimes I wish they could all be like Miss Camperdown. She spent her whole last term divided between the tennis court and the river, and took a First."

May it be so for AG Garland.

I love the Sayers mysteries, and this quote is quite appropriate. Ocelot II Nov 2022 #1

One should also think about ducks and swans: They glide along the water calmly and effortlessly, but we don't see the frantic paddling underneath.
