"And I hope the Republicans have the courage to fight this."

So said Donald Trump after today's announcement of a Special Counsel.

This is his strategy.

But it is not the "Republicans fight". It is Donald Trump's fight. It is he that committed the crimes and continues to break the law every single day. He uses the Republicans for cover.
It is too bad that they are unable to see that. He will destroy their Party. Unfortunately, he may destroy the rest of the country also.

Republicans need to come to their senses. That is the bottom line. It is not their fight. They need to understand that.

Furthermore, he said, “I have been going through this for six years — for six years I have been going through this, and I am not going to go through it anymore..."

“It is not acceptable. It is so unfair. It is so political,” he said.

Until we can get the Republican leaders to open their eyes and put their country over politics and a Cult Leader, we are screwed.

And that's the way it is...

What it isn't is Partisan, which is what Trump and other idiots often say as the short hand. Everything they do in Washington DC and State Capitals is POLITICAL. The difference is that the Democratic Party while we would like to be in charge, will make policy that benefits everyone, regardless of their political affiliation. When we invest in infrastructure, or schools, or fight for healthcare access for all, it isn't just for Democrats. It is for me, you, my crotchety Republican uncle...EVERYONE. Certainly we like to tax the wealthiest but that is just because they have 1. taken most of the resources for themselves anyway and 2. They can afford it. Republicans, on the other hand, take actions in large part to damage the political opposition, to serve their wealthy constituents, and ultimately to see through their vision of a hierarchical society with the Wealthy White Protestant Christian men at the top, and all others subservient.

Trump wants to characterize anything that is done to hold him accountable for his behavior as a completely partisan, without merit, action. The problem is that all of the evidence does not support his claim.

The Republicans, at least some, will fight is, not because they have "courage" but because they lack ethics, morals, and any sense of shame that would come with having the previous.

The ones who hoped he would fade away and realize that he won't have a chance to use this as an exit ramp. Stealing classified documents is not some long held republican or conservative value. Going along with Trump's lies about his innocence when they know he is guilty is a recent development in republican circles. One possible outcome is that publicly they cry foul about this being politically motivated while in private rubbing their hands in glee that he is finally out of the picture.

We have become accustomed to them giving him full throated defense no matter how egregious the crime and the volume of the evidence of his guilt. That may be the case this time, but there is some chance that they use this to part ways.

They are stooges. He uses them to promote himself, his power, and his wealth. He doesn't give a rat's ass about the Republican Party.

Why can they not see that?

They own this. Donald Trump is an anchor around every one of their necks. Every single republican who voted twice against impeachment. Its their fight. Every one of them who publicly endorsed him and who has continued to support him after he led an armed mob against the capitol. They are responsible for everything Donald Trump has done.

They have been grooming their base for Trump for 40 years. They have been dogwhistling the racism and xenophobia. The fear that drives 40% of the country to support Trump even now. They groomed that. They are not ignorant stooges. They are the architects of Trumpism.

Its because they are one and the same. They have found it impossible to separate themselves from Trump again and again because THEIR base... the people that have been electing THEM for years, the people THEY NEED to continue their own political careers, see in Trump the purest version of what THEY stand for. He is THEM, just dumber and he says all the quiet shit out loud. And now you've got a whole crew of them who are equally dumb and crass and don't know when to STFU groomed in Trump's image...

From the Special Prosecutor.

So far Republicans have ignored lots of subpoenas from the DOJ and the J6 committee.

So maybe they will show courage and show up when they get subpoenaed.

Maybe they will have the Courage to answer questions truthfully instead of taking the 5th.
