Simple question: Is it better for the country if Trump is indicted or if he is not indicted?

What happens if he is not charged? I despair to think.

What happens if he is charged?

I believe it will be much worse if he is not charged.

That is just my opinion.

otherwise we are in the same place as after watergate, the powerful are NOT above the law and they need to know that.

then that sends a signal that our legal system has no teeth and laws are worthless. Not being indicted and convicted says 'do what you want, nothing happens.'

That was the very signal Jerry Ford sent when he pardoned Nixon.

Charging Trump and then him being found not guilty would be worse then taking the time to build an airtight case against him .

There can always be an "OJ verdict".

But, with a public trial, at least all the facts would be aired out.

People would make their own judgements.

Having said that... the chances of real actual punishment are slim to none.

WaPo already leaked earlier this week that DoJ says Trump had no motive other than ego to hoard the docs and there is no evidence of sharing the docs, etc.

Slap on the wrist, at most.

And one we need an answer to if we are to build a history for future attempts at our democracy. It is important that we indict if a case can be made that would jail other citizens.

If not, then all the rethugs in the House will assume THEY are also above the law. Heaven help us if they get free reign.
