Youngkin is trying to reinvent himself

https://wtop.com/virginia/2022/11/governor-glenn-youngkin-responds-to-backlash-over-virginias-proposed-school-history-standards/ McAuliffe lost the election for Virginia Governor because he said parents should have no say in the schools. Youngkin won, but he bought into the media’s idea that parents wanted to: emotionally torture trans kids, ban books, and validate racism. What really bothered Virginia parents is the worry their kids would lose their shot at UVA, VT, W&M and other great state and private universities because they were in public schools that had Covid protocols, while private schools held in person classes. Two income couples were frustrated because they were trying to work at home with their kids around. The year off of school was NECESSARY, but cost the Democrats the election. However, Virginia is not Florida. Voters wanted their damn kids off their video games and back in classrooms. They did not want a governor who supports an abortion ban, defunding of public schools, money to Liberty U, and who runs around campaigning for losing MAGAs. We cannot let him reinvent himself.

Youngkin campaigned wearing a sweater, to convey an optic that he was just an unassuming ordinary guy not pushing a radical agenda. Between the sweater gimmick and McAuliffe's stupid gaffe, it did the trick. The guy is cunning indeed.
