Manhattan Prosecutors Again Consider a Path Toward Charging Trump

The Manhattan district attorney’s office has moved to jump-start its criminal investigation into Donald J. Trump, according to people with knowledge of the matter, seeking to breathe new life into an inquiry that once seemed to have reached a dead end.

Under the new district attorney, Alvin L. Bragg, the prosecutors have returned to the long-running investigation's original focus: a hush-money payment to a porn star who said she had an affair with Mr. Trump.

The district attorney’s office first examined the payment to the actress, Stormy Daniels, years ago before changing direction to scrutinize Mr. Trump’s broader business practices. But Mr. Bragg and some of his deputies have recently indicated to associates, supporters and at least one lawyer involved in the matter that they are newly optimistic about building a case against Mr. Trump, the people said.

The renewed scrutiny of the hush money comes amid an intensifying swirl of legal and political drama around Mr. Trump. On Friday, Merrick B. Garland, the U.S. attorney general, appointed a special prosecutor who vowed to proceed quickly with two federal investigations into the former president. It is unclear whether Mr. Bragg or the special counsel will ultimately seek charges against Mr. Trump, who just announced a third presidential run.

His lead investigators told him they had Trump dead to rights, and he dropped the ball.

that the statute of limitations had run out for "individual one." Maybe the state has a longer time line?

I guess I will have to go to the Google machine.

most of the exhibits Pomerantz et all had collected?

And PS, the previous investigation NEVER "hit a dead end." Pomerantz said they were ready to go to indictment when Bragg squashed the case.

The payment was made with funds from Trump’s 2016 campaign, which violates federal election laws. Unfortunately, there is a five-year statute of limitations on violations of federal elections law, and the payment was made to Daniels on October 27, 2016.

WTF is Bragg talking about? Is there a longer time line to indict in N.Y.?

By the bye, Merrick Garland could have indicted Trump, and the ducks were all lined up in a row, ask Michael Cohen.

Trump committed a crime and the evidence was laid out by Mueller and Merrick Garland chose not to indict Trump for "individual one."

Do you agree that Garland made the right choice to not indict Trump, if so, why?

Merrick Garland allowed the Cyber Ninjas to violate Title 52 of the federal election laws. Do you agree that Garland did the proper thing by only writing a stern letter to the Cyber Ninjas, if so, why? Arizona is now ground zero for the Big Lie because nothing was done to the Cyber Ninjas. 2 citizens groups tried to hold them accountable but nothing could be done because the Cyber Ninjas were a fake group of pro-Trump people who had a mailbox for an office. A federal judge fined them 50k per day that has never been paid to this day.

I am not afraid to state my opinions, I welcome criticism from you but it would be nice for you to state your opinions about Stormy Daniels and the Cyber Ninjas. Just criticizing me means nothing, I'm a nobody.

That means it's over. With all that Garland has on his plate do you really believe he should attempt to re-open the Mueller investigation? It would waste time and resources, it would be a joke. What would Garland say? Barr lied, he corruptly ended the investigation so I'm going to re-open the case. Pull prosecutors off the cases they are on now. What would the Republicans say if Garland attempted to do that. It's ridiculous.

Barr also sabotaged the Individual1 case. You want Garland to go back and waste time and resources for that also? Do you want him to pull prosecutors off other investigations to do that? Garlands resources are not unlimited.

The Cyber Ninjas? Are you kidding me? Lets waste time and resources on the Cyber Ninjas.

By the way I did not say you lied. People can be wrong, that doesn't mean they lied.

Did you get that information from your secret Internet sources? Or did you get it from the convicted felon who you apparently consider a reliable source on federal law?
