The announcers rarely offer anything that a discerning sports fan can't see on their own.

My wife makes fun of the fact that I am constantly saying things about the event that are immediately then said by the commentator. I guess I missed my calling.

There's so much information displayed on the screen, announcers have nothing left to offer.

I'm in Norwich, England, which is a busy, bustling town, and the streets were almost silent this afternoon during the match, save for bursts of cheering coming from the pubs. No vuvuzelas, though (if I had one, I would use it!)

(and I think that's "hearty" salute. /pedant)

If I sat on the couch blowing one of those during the game she would snap it in half!

It'll put you one up on the people who traveled all the way there to see it live.
